Good night light for late night
Got this more for the night light feature than anything else. I take care of all nighttime baby care so my husband can rest. With this, I am able to observe my baby in her bassinet without turning on the side lamp. It provides enough light for changes and feedings through its adjustable brightness. So you can have it on a lower setting while you sleep and higher setting when you need to get up to attend to your baby.My husband turned on the sound feature one night to try it out. He used the rain sound and said that he enjoyed it. I’m not big on ambient nature sounds, so I can’t comment on it. The sound quality was nice and the sound was tolerable, but it didn’t do much for me personally.I recommend this version for what it is and based on other reviews that recommend the bluetooth version over the wi-fi version. We had no desire to have an internet connected device in our bedroom or our baby’s bedroom, so we feel this version is sufficient. It has all the features you could need for it’s purpose – ambient light, night light, lullabies, and nature and white noise sounds. My husband likes it so much that he said we’ll be getting another one for the nursery when she moves into her crib.

Finally, my kids are sleeping!
This is my first ever Amazon review, but I loved this product so much that I felt I had to share my experience! I bought this out of sheer desperation simply for the “ok to wake” function. My 18 month old had been waking between 5 and 6am for over 6 months, and literally nothing I did helped him sleep any later. We already had a cheap white noise machine, so when I first heard of this product, I balked at the price, thinking I didn’t need it for the other features. I first purchased a cheaper “ok to wake” product, but found it difficult to operate, and poorly designed and made. I finally purchased the Hatch Rest, thinking if it didn’t work out, at least Amazon would let me return it.Now, I had serious doubts about my 18 month old’s ability to understand and abide by the “ok to wake” concept. But mom needs a little time to herself in the morning, so I was willing to give it a shot despite my reservations. The beauty of this product is the app and Bluetooth capability. I set the clock for 6am the first night and told my son that when the light turned green in the morning, he could get up for the day. For the record, my 18 month old can only say about 10 words… but he seems to comprehend a lot. The next morning, he woke at 5:30. I wasn’t about to let him cry for 30 long minutes, so I opened the app, changed the wake up time to 5:35, and then when the light turned on, went into his room and did a big dramatic wake up. I said, “look, your light is green, that means it’s time to wake up!” I then turned on the lights, threw open the curtains… made a big deal of it. Over the next few days, I gradually set the clock back little by little, and he started sleeping a little later each day. After a week, I was able to set the clock to 7:30 (my ideal wake up time for him). He woke the first few days a little earlier, and I would just tell him through the baby monitor talk function that his light wasn’t green, and I kid you not— he laid down and went back to sleep until the light came on. Now if he wakes a few minutes early, he just plays in his crib and waits for the light. I can’t believe that this worked, but it did. And now I feel like I have to spread the word!I actually loved this so much, that I bought a 2nd one for my 3 year old. He loves it. He plays in his room until his light comes on at 7:30, and also stays in his room to play or look at books during “quiet time” in the afternoon. He loves choosing a nightlight color and sound on the app every night. I truly cannot say enough positive things about this product… try it!

love it! here’s the pros and cons
**UPDATE**About 2 months ago, I received a notice that the Hatch Baby Rest has been update and they sent us a new one because they want to ensure customers have the best (First note – that is just EXCELLENT customer service). I must say, it is amazing! Almost all previous notes had been addressed!1. Range of volume is significantly more broadThis made a difference, especially with time. As my son got older, I am starting to lower the volume so he gets used to silence but also not rely on the Hatch Baby. JUST as I felt like the lowest volume on the previous model was fine, but slightly on the louder side, they sent this updated version which not only has a wider range, but I still have room to lower the volume even more in the future.2. They changed the plug adapter. Previously it was like a phone charger. Now it is a real adapter which is sturdier, more secure and less likely to get yanked out by my child.3. The app is a lot more user friendly and customizable. It is still simple but before the update, it may have been TOO simple. The only thing I’d wish they’d do is make shortcuts to my favorites. For example, when I set the schedule, you have to set the volume and light brightness, but I wish I could just set my favorite setting during that schedule.4. THE FADE! I mentioned before how it transitioned very abruptly and I wished it would have been smooth – they fixed it!5. Lastly, they did NOT address the light. Which I think may just be preference. Currently this device is meant to be a night light. It does just that. I wished there could be a ‘night light’ setting and ‘lamp’ setting that I could switch back and forth from and also had brightness levels. Sometimes I need to change his diaper in the middle of the night and would like to be able to see without turning on the light and this would be helpful. Other than that, works just as a night light which is nice to see the room as I shuffle around.*previous review*I never write reviews, however, I love this product so much, I really want to provide some feedback so if the company ever chooses to update, these are really easy features to add to make it even more spectacular. (note: my son is 3.5 months)(1) multi function: a. night light PROs: has several color options. this may not be a big deal for others, but the fact that orange, red and yellow hues enhance and help sleep for both baby and me is a major plus. then green and blue are cool tones that help with waking up (for me now while the baby is young, and then for him when he’s a little older). then with the cute sleeves to add later, i think the color options would help with his development visually and mentally CONs: light is not bright enough depending on size of room. i switched rooms and in our master the light was so low at the highest setting i couldn’t see to breastfeed in the middle of the night (let alone change a diaper!). i ended up having to add back my lamp that has a baby sensitive bulb just to see. would be nice of it had more of a range and could functions as a lamp in addition to night light mode. (i will say though, in the nursery, the light was JUST right at the highest setting) b. sound machine PROs: NOT ON A LOOP, which is a big deal. i’ve had to return a previous device because it was on a loop and i could hear the click with my sensitive ears. there are also several options in noises, and my son really enjoys the soothing music to wake up to. all the noises are naturally recorded rather than electronically made so it’s realistic CONs: there is a lot of opportunity here! when the device turns on or off and even when i change from one sound to another, it is VERY abrupt. i wished there was a fade in / out when turned on / off, or a smooth transition from one sound to another when switching. some times my son is asleep and i am stepping out of the room so i turn on the Rest, i have to move very fast to turn the sound all the way down and manually fade it in so not to shock him awake. i’ve also read other reviews that when the device is on all night, it has defects where the volume changes randomly – this happened to me too. i though i had a defected unit and called amazon for a replacement, the new one does it too! (here’s the kicker, when mine adjusts the volume by itself, it does it as a fade! so it can be done!). lastly, i wished there was also ‘heartbeat’, ‘vacuum’ and ‘stove fan’.(2) control options:a. top ring: such a clean look and powerful speaker with a single ring you and turn the device on / off by. it is VERY sensitive though, so be careful not to bump into it when the baby is sleeping or it will switch to your next ‘favorite’ settingb. base controls: nicely hidden from your child if they’re very curious and can be ‘toddler locked’ from your phonec. bluetooth from your phone: this is what won me over. in the middle of the night when you are sleep deprived, and you just want to adjust the volume…..SOLD. HOWEVER, note that all reviews have a warning that this is BLUETOOTH and not WIFI so i’ve noticed i will need to be like 10ft from the Rest in order to control it. this is a bit frustrating since it is supposed to be 30ft and i can’t even control the volume from the bedroom door…. also ‘favorites’ can only be activated by the top ring, you cannot select a ‘favorite’ from your phone to play…..not cooloverall, i love this device and look forward to using it for the years to come!one feature i’m not sure if it’s possible, but since it is already connect via bluetooth, if i could play my own music as well such as mini dance parties or youtube itsy bitsy spider or whatnot, that would put this over the top!!!

*** UPDATED 12/18/2018*** A few quibbles but overall a fantastic night light.
*** SEE END OF REVIEW FOR UPDATE ***We needed a night light for our 3-month-old’s nursery and this has fit the bill beautifully. To be clear, this machine works via Bluetooth, NOT via WiFi. This has advantages and disadvantages which I’ll mention below. Overall, though, there’s a lot to love about this machine and only a few small quibbles I have with it.What’s great about this machine:1) It looks stylish — modern yet neutral. And because the light can be just about any color, it can fit in with whatever color scheme your room is.2) It’s easy to use. The downloadable phone app works for both Android and IOS and is very self-explanatory. Programs can be set to start and finish at any time each day (or set days of the week) and include settings for light color and brightness as well as your choice of sound (or silence) and the volume of the sound.3) The sound machine function produces a wide range of soothing background sounds: “woodsy” noise (crickets), rain shower, white noise (like television static), singing birds, ocean waves, rippling water, a laundry machine, and three different sets of melodies. These sounds are surprisingly not nearly as annoying as I assumed they would be — most of them are actually quite nice.4) The “Okay to get up” feature will be great when our little one becomes a toddler. Basically, just set a program for a particular color to turn on at a certain time in the morning so your toddler knows it’s “okay” to get out of bed for the day. I have no doubt this will come in handy!A few things I’m not as wild about:1) The volume of some of the sounds could stand to have a wider range, particularly on the lower end. For example, the white noise sound is quite loud, even on the lowest volume setting. We have it dialed all the way down and it’s passable but still almost too loud.2) The ability to program sounds and lights is a great feature, but it would be nice to be able to start a program on demand instead of only at a pre-set time. For example, we have our “overnight” program set to begin at 9 p.m. and end at 6:30 a.m., but sometimes our little one goes to bed a few minutes before or after 9:00. It would be nice to be able to start the overnight program with the push of a button at, say, 9:08 and have it still end at 6:30 a.m.3) As I mentioned above, this machine is controllable via a phone app via Bluetooth, not WiFi. On the plus side, this means you don’t have to plug anything into your router, and the connection is very easy to make. On the minus side, only one phone can control it at a given time. My wife and I both have the app on our phones, and if we are both close to the machine one of us might have to close the app for the other to use it. Also, because Bluetooth has a relatively short range, you may not be able to control this machine from more than a room or two away. Then again, this is a night light, not a baby monitor, so the “need” to connect to it from the other end of the house is not as great.I’m very happy with this purchase and would certainly purchase it again!*** UPDATE 12/18/2018 ***We have been using this light for almost a year and a half, and we like it so much we purchased a second one to use for our son who was born a month ago. Although he isn’t sleeping in his own room yet, we have the Hatch set up in our bedroom so he has a night light. So, this is the first time we have used the phone app to control more than one device. You can pair more than one device with your phone, but unfortunately switching between the devices in the app is a little cumbersome because you essentially have to “log out” of one device and “log on” to the other. It’s not difficult, but it seems like a lot of steps. As I mentioned in my main review, I suspect this is because the pairing is via Bluetooth, not WiFi, which limits the complexity of the communication. And as a reminder, only one person can be “logged in” to a device at a time, so if my wife wants to change the volume or the sound and I was the last person to make a change, she can’t do anything until I log out on my phone.Fortunately this light will probably be used on a set schedule most of the time, so accessing it via the phone app is probably not something you will do very often once your have a set routine.

Controls??
Maybe I’m just an idiot but I didn’t know until weeks of use that the controls are on the bottom of the machine. My husband set it up so I thought all the controls were only via Bluetooth on the app. I wish the buttons were on top of the machine so you can see them. The app is convenient when we switch from white noise to birds in the AM. We use this every single day. We love it. A huge complaint is I wish they had a “shhh” noise like the baby frida has….Overall, I buy this as a baby shower gift and it’s a must for every nursery.

Excellent product. Excellent support.
If you’re looking for a new parent gift this is hands down a winner. This product covers a multitude of new parent needs with white noise options and night light all controlled by the app or on the product itself. This can also be used as an “okay to wake” clock for when the child is older and more independent, 3 in 1 product. I have used this for almost 4 years and jus recently had to contact customer support for an issue with the cord and they generously replaced the cord Their response was very quick and helpful. Highly recommend both product and the company who stands behind it.

Love the customizations, not a fan of subscription or app interface
Pros: The lights and sounds are very customizable and I love how dim you can make the light. It’s convenient to be able to turn off the clock display, especially if you need to change your schedule and don’t want your little one getting too hung up on the time. We’re starting to sleep train given what a jerk daylight savings time is and really think this device meets all of our needs to help do that. We likely won’t use the sound function given the limited sounds for overnight (we use a separate sleep machine with a deeper white noise sound with some base and the white noise sound on this device is a bit high pitched).Cons: There aren’t a ton of sound options unless you pay a ridiculous subscription fee and there isn’t the option to play music from your phone even though there is a Bluetooth connection for set-up (ours also does WiFi). The app interface is clunky and needs work. If you click on the circular icon for one of your presets, it starts playing that preset. It’s difficult to get used to having to click the little pencil icon to edit the preset and when you do click the pencil on the favorites area, the app behavior changes and then you have to click the circle icon to open the favorite for editing. From a UX perspective this could be a little more intuitive as I’m sure I’ll end up waking my kid when trying to make a change to a setting, especially while we’re getting used to this new device. The set-up process was a bit odd. You download the app, connect to it via Bluetooth then connect it to your Wi-Fi and it takes 10 minutes to set up. I don’t even think my last iPhone took that long. Not a huge pain point since it’s a one-time deal but wanted to leave that feedback for the manufacturer.

Love it!
I have the earlier version of the Hatch and I love the improvements in this version. I like that it uses wifi so I don’t have to be directly next to it. I love that there are more options for sounds, songs, stories, etc. I will advise that you do have to pay a “membership” to use these additional sounds. But it was around $55 for the whole year so it seems worth it to me.

Baby MUST HAVE
I’ve used this sound machine for both my kids. Love them! I buy them for all my friends and family who are expecting. Cannot recommend enough. I love you can control everything from your phone through bluetooth( new version is Wi-Fi I believe). You can save programs and settings to your favorites. I love that I can take it anywhere and it’s so user friendly even the grandparents can use it without problems. Only downfall-no battery backup. So if you loose power and that machine shuts off, more than likely your kiddos will be waking up.

Great product and customer service
We were really happy with this until one day sound suddenly stopped working. Tried resetting and updating the firmware but to no avail. When we reached out to their support team, we received great customer service and they shipped us a new chord which apparently was the issue.

Must have
Been using for a year now and I’m not sure if my baby could sleep without it! So easy to use and I love that you can control it from your phone. Anytime we traveled I always bring with us and it’s a good size to do so. My now toddler loves the different sounds it has and it makes a good night light as well. Definitely worth it

A newborn must
I’ve used this every night since my son was born. It has many different options of light colors and sounds. I like that you can control it from your phone which is super convenient. It does have a great clarity of volume as well. As mom and dad we also enjoy this and find this to be very relaxing for sleep. I use this for night time diaper changes.

I loved my first one so much I bought a second
I love my hatch! It was easy to set up and get exactly how I want the sounds and lights to be. You can also program it to turn on at a certain time. I don’t use that feature but I know other people who do and they love it.

My baby can’t sleep without it
The hatch creates an ambiance that helps my baby sleep at night. It’s easy to change the setting. You just tap the metal part on the top so now that my baby is one, he taps it to change the settings himself before going to bed. It’s part of our bedtime routine. Love it! We even gifted one to our friends for their newborn.

Amazing!
I rarely ever write reviews but I had to for this one. It has helped so much in training my baby on a sleep schedule. I’ve set wake and sleep times, each a different mode. My husband and I have had the best sleep since this purchase! I definitely recommend.

This is on day and night
We have this in my son’s nursery. It’s pretty much on 24 hours a day. We turn the light to the lowest setting and it’s the perfect amount of glow for him to sleep and for us to be able to see. Several sound options too but he likes the one that sounds like a fan.

Updating my review
I cannot get the app to download, and I cannot get anything but the nightlight to activate manually. I was up to 3 a.m. this morning trying to use this thing for the first time. Unless I can get some helpful advice today, this thing is getting returned immediately. Its so frustrating that I had no issues with the cheaper takeoff product similar to this, but I splurged to get this one with the clock, and it doesn’t work. I also gave my working one away thinking this Hatch was going to work even better. Boy was I wrong.Update: After deleting and reinstalling the Hatch app about a dozen times, I gave up for 3 days and submitted a return rquest. On day 4, I downloaded the app one last time. This time the app uploaded and was totally different. Most importantly it prompted me to pair the Hatch to my phone, which it never did the first dozen times I tried to get it started. After that, it started working flawlessly. So I canceled my return request, and I’m giving it only 4 stars because the app has major issues.

Price Is Expensive
This product is not just $70 – it had a $10 tax/shipping fee and then on top of that it costs $50 just to activate it on the app = $130. However, I bought it anyway completely desperate. It’s been about a week since I started using it for both of my children and it is such a major improvement I feel like crying. I used the child/dog wake up call and bedtime call at 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. every day. I have found that my children respond best to the rain with pink coloring. I did try to use the white noise since one of my children is so young but the rain works better because it has white noise with the rain. The app also has breathing exercises for before bed when they get older and other bedtime routines such as brushing your teeth. This machine is way over priced but considering how well it works so far (I will update it later if it does not) that I don’t care about the price anymore. One of my children just would not sleep at all and now they sleep by themselves with the rain and pink coloring in their crib. It is truly a dream come true now that I can actually sleep.

Membership for 2nd generation
I already own first generation for four years. I decided to buy a second machine and this time I had option to purchase first or second generation so I decided to go with second generation this time. Second generation doesn’t have free sounds like Twinkle Twinkle little star. Makes you sign up for membership. Now I am returning second generation to purchase first generation instead because of membership issue.

Nice improvement from version 1
This one works very well. I have the WiFi version so I can control it from everywhere with the app. I don’t have any connection issues and I like that I can see the volume and brightness levels on the digital read out which makes adjusting the color brightness and sound levels so much easier. The app for the second generation has so many more features and an increased selection of sounds and for a membership, they can also have stories read from the machine. The app is more user friendly than the first and has an overall cleaner look.I would definitely pick the second generation over the first again. It seems to have less connection problems than the first, which is a bonus. Even with those errors, we loved our first generation until we realized how great the second generation is.

Night Terrors Disappeared!!!!
My poor 4 year old has been having daily night terrors for almost a year. Every night after sleeping for 2 hours, she would wake up screaming and kicking. We were feeling so helpless until we came across this and thought we’d give it a try. IT IS LIKE MAGIC I am telling you since we’ve gotten this she hasn’t had a single night terror!!!! Buy this for your sanity!

Worth it
I just bought a second one of these! The ability to set programs and control it from your phone is amazing! It works very well as an okay to wake alarm for toddlers, and we started using the white noise during the nights also. My only complaint is I’m not impressed with the sound options for white noise. I wish there was a good fan noise on there. I’m hoping the 2nd generation we just bought has more options.

Perfect Toddler Light But for one Flaw
Background: I came from using a LittleHippo Mella light for my son’s wake up and get up light. We started training early and tiny kids are better at learning the system than you’d think. The Mella light was great, we loved that it was not connected to the internet (so if Wifi was lost sleep the light didn’t stop working), we liked the portability and the simplicity. However, it eventually stopped working. When looking at a new one, we desired one with better functionality for the noise machine aspect because taking the google home with us is annoying. Re-connecting to wifi everywhere, getting constant complaints to buy purchase premium this and that, plus we know it’s listening all the time.We settled on this model of the Hatch light after reading some of the reviews of the updated model.Pros:Fully programmable with many program options. Can change the programs outside the room (this is important if you know your toddler got a late start on the nap and you want to let them keep sleeping). No wifi neededBrightness is adjustable for all programs and colors.PortableCons:1) 1 second sound gap between programs – For us, this is the biggest problem with the device. We have a complicated program setup for the morning. Light changes to purple, our son can read in bed. 15 minutes later it changes to yellow signifying it’s ok to get up and play quietly in his room until it turns green. The idea of the purple is to allow him to sleep past this point if his body needs it. The problem is there is a gap of one second silence between programs. Both programs use the rain sound, but the 1 second of silence wakes him up every time. There is nothing you can do to avoid that gap between programs. His body has become attuned to that gap and wakes up from it whether it’s naptime or morning.2) You cannot enter a program midway. If you get home from a vacation and you bring your kid in and put them in bed or naptime, but you are already inside the timeframe for the program when you plug the Hatch light in in their room (you, of course, brought it with you on the trip), it does not load into the program and you can’t start a program running. Instead you have to set up the program as a timer and calculate the minutes you want for it to run. This has come up a surprising number of times.3) It would be nice if there were a few more sound options. The forest sounds one is a high pitched, kind of quiet buzzing that is actually headache inducing and too quiet to be useful. We use one of the lullabies to signal clean up time for quiet time, but there aren’t many to choose from. It’s ok to include some songs that aren’t lullabies for different purposes. With the above issues fixed, this would be a 5 out of 5 for sure.

The best thing I bought for my baby!
If you’re on the fence about it like I was, go ahead and get it. Our hatch has been the best thing for our 6 week old. We keep the light on low every night so we can see him sleeping to be able to check on him, but it’s not too bright that it interferes with sleep. Being able to control it from my phone is very convenient and the noise can get loud enough where it can be heard across the house if need be. The wind noises calm him down almost instantly when he’s over tired. 1000% recommend the hatch to every parent of littles.

It’s awesome
It’s not a speaker for you to play your own music but it has its own settings and tracks on the machine and if you you download the app you get more options and can conveniently adjust brightness and volume from your phone. The machine also has buttons on the bottom if you don’t want the app. Just make sure to read the instructions to understand some of the touch controls. We’ve used everyday since we got it. It helps everyone sleep. I definitely recommend it.

Pretty good, but wish it had more sounds
My son sleeps well with this sound machine overall. I am not sure it’s quite worth so much money, but it’s nice to have the option to change the volume remotely. I know you can purchase more sounds via the app, but that’s silly for paying so much for the darn thing. Only one of the sounds is effective for my son (static) which feels like a ripoff.I am looking forward to changing the colors for my son when he’s older to hopefully teach him when to wake up and be quiet or let us know he’s awake (red or green).

I bought this for my newborn based on recommendations from friends and family. I was a little hesitant at first but it is by far the best product I have purchased for my kids. It is an amazing nightlight for breastfeeding through the night. My 2 year old loved it so much that we bought him one too! He can’t sleep without it. I wish I had known about it before!

Toddler Sleep Trainer
My 3yo son had a difficult time transitioning out of crib to his bed (i.e 5am wake up calls). We utilized the ‘time to rise’ function to signal when it was morning time and now he says “Mom, it’s wake up time!” when the hatch changes on its assigned time. The hatch also allows us to put a little bit of ‘control’ in his hands for bedtime. We allow him to pick his color and sound. Right now we’re into yellow and evening campfire. I recently decided to upgrade to the 2nd gen in order to tap into sleep stories. We have a newborn at home and I found that a night time story helps wind him down and free me up with baby. Night one of sleep stories was a success I’m really looking forward to exploring the entire library. Hatch product is all around nursery/tot room must have. Now all I need from hatch is a mini travel version with light and my sleep machine needs will be complete!

Fine, but doesn’t quite live up to the hype.
I’m sure you’ve read tons of reviews so here’s my main findings.I ordered the older model since I didn’t want any wifi connectivity. The model I received in June 2022, had the new more secure round powwr cord connection, not the mini USB. 👍The sound quality is fine, but only three of the sounds are steady continuous sounds suitable for sleep. You can’t combine sounds. The “program” option is useless. It let’s you set one sound/light level combo for a certain amount of time, but you can’t make a program that changes. For example you can’t play music for 10 minutes and then automatically fade the light and go to a white noise. After 10 minutes it just stops and you need to select the next sound. The ring touch to cycle through is neat, but very disappointed you can’t make a bedtime routine program. I just alternate between a white noise for sleep and a dim light for diaper changes and never use any other sounds/features. Bottom line, it’s nice, but not “programmable” and expensive for what it is.

Love this
I love this machine. I use it as a nightlight more than a sound machine right now. I swap between red light at 1% when sleeping and when my baby wakes, 100% white light to see rather than turning on my actual side table light. The white noise is only set to about 30%My main system is in the nursery and my toddler loves it.

Useful Tool for Setting Routines
I added the item to my baby registry, anticipating it would be used as a night light, but the available features enhance its function as an alarm clock as well. The reason I gave four stars instead of five stars is because the item requires the purchase of a subscription to access the additional features (music, stories, etc.) which are compatible with the device. When reading the item description, the description reads as if the additional features are included in the device.

Works perfectly
Works so well for my little one and her routine. App is user friendly and nice selection of free sounds and lights. I like the ability to turn on lock controls, and to turn off the clock. If I had one thing negative to say, it’s that I can’t schedule more than one sleep session/day (you would just have to tap it to turn on).

Great for all ages!
I love Hatch products and have been using them for years, so naturally I had to check out the latest product, the Hatch Rest 2nd Gen. Just like their other products, this does not disappoint! Great variety of white noise sounds, the nightlight feature is perfect for middle of the night feeds or to brighten a room so it feels less scary. One of my favorite features is being able to set a schedule with different colors and sounds, which has been a game changer in getting our daughter to stay in her room at night/in the morning until it’s time to get up. I also love the music and bedtime stories that helps calm little ones down, preparing their minds and bodies for rest. The app is very user friendly and stores your favorite/most frequently used settings which can also be cycled through with just a tap on the top of the sound machine. I also have to mention, being able to turn my sound machine on from my driveway when my child falls asleep in the car is a HUGE help with transitioning them to their bed to keep napping. That alone makes this work every penny and more!

Choose this instead of the hatch+
I bought the original hatch by mistake, wanting the 2-way monitor function. After initiating the return and purchasing the hatch+ I decided to keep one of the original hatch units for an upstairs bedroom. I have been able to control the unit with zero issues from the start.I received the hatch+ and immediately set it up in my son’s room. Everything worked great after setting it up and testing it out while inside the house. It wasn’t until I went outside the house that I began to have issues. I’ve learned that you have to be on the same wifi connection as the monitor for it to be able to work and even then it’s not reliable. I can be on the same wifi as the monitor but on the outskirts of it’s reach (still with 3 bars!!) And it gives me an error saying that I’m not connected to the same wifi as the monitor so I can’t use that function. I didn’t realize this when buying it, I would have thought twice if i had known. My previous video monitors were able to be viewed from any internet connection, I expected this to be the same. I would routinely check up on the home cameras from work, I wanted this to allow me to be able to still hear what is going on in my son’s room while giving them the privacy of not having a camera watching them constantly since they are old enough now that it isn’t necessary that I see what they are doing. This won’t even work on my phones mobile network. I want to note that this only applies to the audio monitoring portion of the unit, the rest of the features work perfectly on any network. After using both the original hatch and the hatch+ for almost a week and have had next to no luck with using the audio monitoring, I’ve cancelled my return for the second original hatch that I had bought by mistake and will be putting it as well as another that I am purchasing in my son’s room and another room and I’m returning both of the hatch+’s. It’s just not worth the extra $20 to only be able to use the audio function in certain rooms of my home, even struggling just outside the door of the room. I do love that I can control the light and sound on these from anywhere and can tell if my kids have been playing with it instead of going to bed! So, if you want to get down to it, the original hatch is a decent monitor in its own little way!

Plugs into wall
We love our hatch sound machine!! My only complaint is that it is a plug in to the wall machine, not a portable one.

Makes bedtime so much easier
This is our second Hatch machine. Like the first one we own, the white noise has been great for keeping our son asleep. The night light was perfect for middle of the night diaper changes when our son was a newborn. Having it connected to our phones made it super easy to adjust in the middle of bedtime, or from another room.I will say that the new app version is a little less intuitive than the first, but has a much more robust library of sounds, songs and stories.

Don’t wake a sleeping baby
As I write this review (3 years after we bought our first hatch), it is 3:30am, and my children (ages 1&3) just slept through a screaming house alarm going off for T E N minutes. We just moved into a house and the previous owner had an alarm system that we didn’t continue service on. It decided to go off in the middle of the night. I kept waiting for my 1 or 3 year old to wake up crying. Nope. Their Hatches (both at 80% volume on the white noise setting) kept them soundly asleep. I’ll also mention that our power cord stopped working at one point-I reached out to Hatch directly and they sent a replacement quickly and easily. God Bless Hatch!

LOVE THIS!
Bought this for the new baby and will be buying a second one when she goes to her own room because I love it even for me! The sound options are great and this thing can get SO LOUD! We usually keep the sound on about 35% and it’s perfect for our size room. But it can get sooo much louder. The light options are great for night feeds and diaper changes and early mornings when your still waking up and don’t want a bright light. The app works great. Love this hatch!

helps me sleep in
We use this as a way for my son to know if he is allowed to come out of his room yet or not. he is an early riser and used to come out of his room at like 0400 and wake us up. we have it set on a timer to change colors so that he knows that he can come out of his room in the morning.

Get it.
There is so much controversy over this pricey sound machine BUT I’m here to say it is well worth the money. We use it every night and I love the convenience of being able to adjust the sound and brightness level from my phone.

Love it, but…
I absolutely love this product, my only draw back is the power cord went out on it. I bought it in 2020 and the power cord just died on it. But with what I was spending and seeing that my kids also don’t play with it. I would have expected it to last much longer. my daughter is three and she loved it. Just a little disappointing.

Perfect…he sleeps like a charm!
Buy this Hatch!!! It is the perfect white noise machine. The different beautiful sounds are adjustable and the lighting is just enough. If you do not want the light on; no worries you have options. My son is sleeping soundly all night when using the Hatch. It’s also nice to place in any room as it’s not just for a “baby” so we bought one for our room too!! You will not be sorry for purchasing this machine. You will get your money’s worth and then some!

Routine function sucks
Honestly I’m pretty upset the Hatch2. I went ahead and got the hatch2 thinking it would be equally as good as my hatch and my hatch+. I was wrong. For bedtime routines it gives you like 5 option. None of which are white noise or a solid color. Very disappointed with hatch2. And I will absolutely be returning it.However, I have nothing but amazing things to say about Hatch in general. My hatch+ broke and when they couldn’t find a solution they sent me a new one. I have 3 hatch products (2 hatch original and 1 hatch+) and I love them all so much. Couldn’t imagine bedtime without them.
