A Suitable Replacement for Discontinued Neutrogena Rapid Clear Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Wash
My dermatologist has long recommended a 10% benzoyl peroxide wash. It used to be Rx only, but eventually became available OTC. I’ve used a 10% bp wash for many years.I’m in my 40s, have oily skin, and left untreated can develop acne ranging from small white heads to painful, cystic acne and folliculitis. It took me 20 years of adult life to eventually find a daily routine that generally keeps my skin clean, clear, and free of painful breakouts. The cornerstone of that routine was the Neutrogena 10% Benzoyl Peroxide wash that I found to be strong enough to serve it’s purpose but still gentle enough to not cause annoying side effects such as irritation and over dryness. Unfortunately that face wash appears to have been discontinued.PanOxyl was a product I had tried before, years ago (before I discovered the other parts of my routine which I suspect played a bigger role in it actually being effective – more on that below), and I believe it was the actual brand recommended by my dermatologist once 10% bp became available over the counter. So I knew it was a good product, and similar to what I had been using- both in price and effectiveness. So it was an easy first choice for me in trying to replace the wash I’ve relied on for some time.I’ve been using it now for a few weeks and I haven’t noticed a difference in my results, thankfully. It seems to be very similar to me and hasn’t dried my skin out completely or irritated it in any way. So for now, I think this is the one that will become my go-to. I’ve also purchased it for my 18-year old who was similarly concerned about the Neutrogena being discontinued. Seems to be working for them as well.I mentioned above that for me, there were other factors that helped make this product work better. Those factors are:*Exfoliating/washing before I shave – without doing this, shaving dirty and oily skin seems to lead to more breakouts.*I use a little silicone face scrubber to apply and scrub with the PanOxyl – after shaving -which helps clean follicles and wash away little hairs- it seems to really help avoid ingrown hairs and folliculitis, which has been awful for me at times.As I mentioned, I have found a routine that works for me- so for anyone looking for help developing their own routine to treat acne, in general, some info about me and my routine is as follows:Male, 44 years oldFull beardBald (I shave my head and around my beard approx 2-3 times per week).Shaving Days (all in shower):1. Wash face, head, and skin under beard with an exfoliating face wash (there is a Viking Revolution micro dermabrasion wash I like for this purpose, but there are a lot of products meant for pre shave wash).2. I shave using a concentrated shave cream (Cremo is what I like the most).3. I apply a nickel sized amount of PanOxyl to a silicone face scrubber, rub it around to cover it, and then gently scrub/massage it into my skin- head, neck, face, etc. in small circular motions. If I have any acne starting to form, I might seperately apply a little additional face wash to that area and scrub a little extra as well.4. Importantly, I take the time to rinse well, as the Benzoyl Peroxide can stain towels or clothes if it’s not appropriately rinsed.5. I wash my beard with a beard wash.6. I generally do not moisturize over the winter unless I start to feel dry- but everyone is different. When showering twice a day if working out, etc, I will use a mild moisturizer, but generally my skin is best balanced at this point without. When the weather is nice enough to be outside, I use a daily moisturizer for sensitive skin with sunscreen in it. If I’m going to be in the sun for extended periods, I’ll also apply higher spf sunscreen. I like Neutrogena triple protect for men as the daily.7. I see a dermatologist, and I have two prescription creams I use in tiny amounts for any flare ups. It’s pretty rare that I have to use them, and it’s usually if I am lax with my routine at all. One cream for morning and one for night. Epiduo Forte and Aczone.8. Non-shaving days I use a similar amount either in my fingers or with the scrubber to wash my face, head, neck, etc. And that’s the only product I use.If this helps anyone in any way, then it was worth putting it out there. Bottom line, this PanOxyl wash works well for me as part of my routine. I added the above context because skin types vary greatly, and it took me a lot of trial, error, research, help from a dermatologist, and persistence to finally get my acne in check. I used to think I could just use a benzoyl peroxide face wash once a day and that would be enough. For some people, maybe it is- but for me personally, I have to do a few other things to maximize it’s effectiveness.

Son on Accutane, Dermatologist Recommended
Our dermatologist recommended this for our son who’s an avid football player and in the gym year round. He is currently on Accutane which has been fantastic but because of sports and his high physical activity, sweat and bacteria from his pads and clothes stay on his skin for hours at a time and he’s still having issues with some body acne on his chest and back, even when showering right after with regular Dove soap, it doesn’t fully get rid of that bacteria. Per his doctor’s instructions because he is on Accutane he only uses it on his problem areas (chest, shoulders and back) as it will dry out his skin too much. I will say, after just a few uses, I’ve already seen an improvement, as it is fully removing that sweat and bacteria that’s on his skin, allowing his Accutane to work better.Highly suggest consulting with your doctor before using if you or your child are on any sort of medications like my son, to be sure this is something that will benefit you.

The Only Product That Has Worked For My Acne
I’ve had horrible acne all my life and have tried dozens of products throughout my life.This product truly removes current acne, while prevent future breakouts.I barely have any acne anymore. Maybe one pimple that lasts a day every week. But that’s better than the dozen I used to have always.It’s like a magic eraser for acne.Final note: Be careful of bleaching. I take off my shirt while using this product because otherwise, it’ll bleach the collar of my shirt. That’s the only issue. But as easy to fix as just taking off your shirt while washing your face. Never bleached anything after doing that.

BEST FACE WASH HANDS DOWN!
I bought this after of course seeing someone rave about it on TikTok. I have struggled with hormonal acne and just stubborn acne for many years. After 2 months of using this product I can safely say it works as long as you continuously use it. I usually use it before bed, and please use a good moisturizer. It has no scent and doesn’t irritate my eyes. I rub it all over my face for a good 2 minutes and then rinse it off, be careful with clothes and your towels, I use a white towel to dry my face because it WILL bleach your towels / clothes. But this has been the only product that has helped with my acne. I recommend this 100x.

Absolutely Amazing
I have had a very bumpy type of acne on my forehead as well as cystic acne on my checks for over a year and I’ve been to the dermatologist but nothing has worked. I saw this product on TikTok and I though I might as well try it. I apply it all over my face and let it sit for 2 minutes before rinsing. I saw results after I used this product for just a week. It completely cleared my cystic acne and also removed the texture on my forehead. I recommend this to everyone with acne! Just make sure that you moisturizer after using, and don’t get it in your eyes.

No acne, but worked for me for an deep adult zit
I haven’t really had to deal with zits for a long long time (since the sad teen days), but last month for various social reasons I got my head shaved, and for whatever reason (the hat?) I developed a Nasty Deep Zit on my scalp two weeks ago.Since then this has a been a complete bugbear – it’s constantly painful and itchy and I find myself waking up scratching at it. But Deep Zits just don’t go away. Surface whiteheads and blackheads were easy, you just squeeze them, but deep zits don’t pop no matter how much you try, they just get redder and angrier, and they’ll never be truly gone till you fully express them. Finally I ordered this benzyl peroxide cream, used it yesterday and today and tonight it just popped – and if you’ve suffered this before, you know when it’s ‘done’ and when it’s not and this is done. No lingering infection, no pressure or pain or itch at all, complete relief.| Hopefully I never need this again, but I’m saving the cream, and if you ever have a nasty adult boil or zit it might help get you some relief.

This formula is powerful
I have struggled with acne for years and have tried countless products, but none have been as effective as PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash. The benzoyl peroxide formula is powerful enough to clear up breakouts but gentle enough that it doesn’t dry out my skin. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my complexion since using this product and would highly recommend it to anyone struggling with acne.

GREAT but beware of BLEACHING CLOTHES
This product is amazing and did everything I wanted it to. It got rid of my skin texture and just works great with my skin type over all so 10/10 for that. But beware that it CAN BLEACH CLOTHING. I’ve already ruined multiple shirts from this product, I know for a fact because it took some time before finally figuring it out. But this DOES bleach so just be careful!

Acne savior
I’ve struggled with acne a lot since I was a teenager. Since I have PCOS, it’s really hard to manage the acne without having to be on a medication. I wanted to try and manage it without medication and this has been super helpful in doing so. It can be drying so make sure to moisturize after!

Good cleanser!
I use this everyday. It helps me keep my skin clear of acne. I recommend following the instructions and gently rubbing on your face for 1-2 minutes for best results. It can be a bit drying especially for sensitive skin but I find a light moisturizer fixes that problem. You can use it on back and chest too!

amazing product for those struggling with stubborn acne
I have been struggling with acne for about a year now . It recently started to get worse about a couple months ago. I tried everything under the sun to try and clear my skin and nothing I tried seem to work. I even went to see a dermatologist and nothing they put me on really worked either . This panoxyl face wash was LITERALLY the best product I have ever used on my acne . I got it about a week ago and in just 1 WEEK, it cleared up my acne drastically and I haven’t gotten a pimple or a cyst since then . It is a stronger product that really just dries up your acne and cleanses very deeply into your skin . I am finally so happy with how my skin looks. My skin was very bumpy before with a lot of deeper cysts that caused a lot of redness and blackheads on my skin . This product managed to clear that up for me , making it so I don’t have any red spots or bumpiness on my skin anymore . It is important to apply sunscreen and mosturizer on afterwards . Be picky about what mostruizer you use afterwards. Since this is a strong product , you want to be careful on what you mix with it . I found that sunscreen was the #1 thing you should apply after using this , and then a gentle mosturizer with no alcohol or strong Ingredients in it (something gentle but that will still lightly moisturize). This product saved my skin and I am gonna continue to keep using it everyday ! It’s so affordable and is the only cleanser that has ever helped prevent and clear my present acne . I also have very stubborn acne so it says a lot that this actually cured it or made it go away. I’m in love with this product. I can’t say it enough, PURCHASE THIS IF YOU HAVE STUBBORN ACNE ! It will change you life , I already feel 100x more confident in my skin .

Powerful but stains and burns!!
This product is great to use on the body and face. Be careful when using around the eyes, as it will burn for a while if you get the smallest amount in it. Also, the active ingredient in this can cause staining/bleaching when at this 10% concentration. So use with a white rag and wash off good before bringing your skin in contact with with fabrics. Also, it can be very drying so if you have sensitive or dry skin, maybe look for a lower concentration and make sure to apply a good moisturizer after. The scent also is a little “chemically” smelling.

Love this product!
I’ve been using this product for my back acne since October. I’d say that it sort of “purges” your skin before it gets better, but this has been definitely the only product that has personally worked out for me as it’s very convenient to use whilst showering and has helped me clearing the back acne I’ve had for several years

My dermatologist recommended this product for my deep cystic acne, within 4 washes my acne slowed way down and now I barely get breakouts like I use too. I leave it in for about 45 seconds before rinsing off!

Amazing cleanser for acne-prone skin
This cleanser is absolutely amazing. 10% of benzol peroxide is really good for acne-prone skin. I’ve been using this cleanser for around 2 weeks now and I can see visible difference in my skin quality. Smell isn’t the best, obviously, because of the main ingredient, but since this is a cleanser and you wash it off in 2-3 minutes, that’s not a big deal, for me. Packaging and bottle design is nice as well, it doesn’t get messy over time. The only thing to note is, benzol peroxide usually makes your skin really dry, so make sure to use moisturizer after washing your face with this. You should have no problem of dryness at all, that way. For the volume you get at this price, I think this is a total steal. Definitely would recommend for someone with acne issues, like myself.

Love this product always leave any skin clean in 1-2 washes it’s is meant to prevent acne so when used daily or almost daily/ how many times a week you may need to use it IT WORKS!! Keeps skin clear sometimes it dries it out but that why it should be use with a thick moisturizer anyways love this product!

Helps with cystic acne !
I get really bad acne on my shoulders and necks area. A lot of it is hormonal and mostly cystic, I wash my face with this for a few minutes and then before bed I will apply a small amount to any breakouts. When I wake up in the morning, the breakouts are less swollen! I will never go without this!!

It does work but it’s drying
I love this product. I had a lot of little bumps on my forehead even though I’m not an acne prone person. I was recommended this product and decided to give it a try. After a couple uses I realized those bumps going away. It’s not magic and I still get fat pimples here and there but it is a really good product for stubborn acne.

Golden for fungal acne

The second picture is from August, the first one is from December. Been using this everyday, once a day and have seen amazing results! And the bottle is nowhere near empty. If you struggle with hormonal acne this face wash might just be the thing that saves it. The results are just dark spots, no active pimples though. Always use a moisturizer afterwards as it can dry your skin out if not. I had tried everything, every affordable option and never saw results. I took a chance ordering this and am so glad I did. It’s also amazing for the price. The smell is kinda weird but it doesn’t really matter, it’s almost close to being scent free, but does have a little bit of a bad scent. Was about to get on acutane but it’s not needed anymore :)also, I don’t have sensitive skin so It could be different for someone else. But try it!

No new breakouts!
I’ve been using this for a week and had no new major breakouts! I cannot claim that about any other face wash I’ve tried recently. I’ve used a light moisturizer after washing with this product once a day and my skin did not dry out from the benzoyl peroxide. 5 stars for this product working and not over drying. It did not foam up as indicated and the smell is very unpleasant. It smells like rubber innertubes. All in all, this product worked as indicated without over drying. I’ll deal with the smell if it means no sudden giant painful acne cysts every few days!!

Cleared up stubborn body acne
This product worked well for clearing up some stubborn body acne. I used it for about a week and haven’t needed it since. I would also use it to spot treat a stubborn zit over night.

I bought this because lately I’m dealing with underarm B.O that seemed to be out of control no matter what I did. And with this cleanser, the B.O. is gone, so it really kills bacteria. In shower I put it under my arms, let it there for 3-5min, and wash it off.

My go to face wash!
I honestly love this face wash. Started using it about a month ago and my skin looks so clear. I would definitely recommend a watery lotion type moisturizer to pair with this. I use one from CeraVe. It tends to make your skin feel dryer but it feels great once you moisturize. Definitely definitely been good to me!

Great for acne prone skin
Please use a moisturizer with this product, because it’s drying even if u have oily skin it’s works best with elf happy hydration moisturizer 🧴, I will never stop using this and it can be used with Acure brightening gel cleanser one morning or night however I want to use it. When my face is super oily from working out I use the Acure cleanser then go in with this

STRONG BUT EFFECTIVE
I was going through an acne crisis due to hormones and I was desperately looking for something to get rid of all the pimples. Regular face washes were not effective enough on my stubborn acne so I needed something that was a bit stronger. This seemed to be good due to its rating. I used it for a good 2 months before all my acne had cleared out on top of pillow sprays, acne creams, etc. It is a bit harsh and will dry out your delicate skin so make sure to moisturize after. It smells medicated and a bit chemically but definitely helped with my stubborn acne.

They say “doctor recommended” – this was and I see why!
Had been struggling with blemishes even in to adulthood and recently was recommended this specifically. Hard to quantify the overall impact since this was in use along with a medication prescription but my skin is much clearer. Definitely not a product big on trying to smell great – not unpleasant – just seems like it wastes no effort on masking with fragrances. Certainly won’t overpower or even linger once rinsed off but thats literally the only minor con I can list – outside of that its the best product Ive tried (which I’ve went through a ton!)

I used to use Cerave bc tiktok told me to lol but it didn’t work its more for people with sensitive skin and my skin isn’t sensitive so I heard about this on tiktok too and decided to give it a try, it cleared my skin up so well its crazy I had acne it wasn’t too bad it was just ugly on me but before I tried it I used dove body wash and it did clear my skin up as well just left my skin oily and I have been using panoxyl ever since but some nights I slack off and my skin will still be clear for a good 4 days then a pimple will pop out here and there

An honest review
I have been using this product for over a year now and stublmed across it because of a madison beer care routine that she posted. I immidietely got it and it works like wonder! First of all if you have oily skin like me its perfect to be used eveyrday, however if you get the 10% Benzyl Paroxide DO NOT use it day and night because it does in fact dry out your skin if you use it too much. In overall i say its an amazing product and its definately worth a try!!

I’m excited to share this review because this product has quickly become my new favourite. For those unfamiliar with this blog, I have dry acne-prone skin that is easily prone to hyperpigmentation. So I try as much as possible to treat my acne and prevent it from pigmenting. Sometimes I’m successful; other times, not so much. This is why for the past year now, I’ve been using the Differin Gel for acne. This Retinoid was perfect for my skin as it treated current breakouts literally overnight and prevented new ones from forming.But then, using Differin Gel meant I couldn’t use any other Retinoid for anti-ageing. I felt like I was stuck to it. I didn’t want that to continue, so I decided to find a replacement product that would get me the exact, if not similar, results as the Differin Gel.This was where I remembered that I’ve had the Panoxyl Acne Foaming Wash on my wishlist. I’ve used a Benzoyl Peroxide cleanser before; the Acnecide Face Wash 5% w/w Gel, but I felt it didn’t do much for me at 5%. So I was really excited to try 10% Benzoyl Peroxide from Panoxyl. I’ve been using actives for a long time now, and my skin is perfectly able to cope with high percentages.

I’m 21. I’ve had severe acne since I was about 12. I’m talking hormonal to the max, plus fungal, plus blackheads and scarring and rough bumpy patches and redness. Everything. Chronic acne destroyed my self confidence as a young person and still does. I’m still hurting over the bullying and self hatred I endured from my ACNE. I have tried everything under the sun for my acne. The whole proactive line, every drug store face wash, every moisturizer, I’ve tried to fancier brands from Macy’s and Sephora, I’ve tried the most gentle gentle ones from Cetaphil. I’ve tried the ordinary, inky list, Paula’s choice. You name it – I have used it.I came across this gem one day when trying to buy my face wash that at least kept my face clean but didn’t help breakouts. I thought wow, 10% is really high, I’ve never seen it that high in a wash. So I bought it. And I decided to buy the sunscreen moisturizer they have as well.When I tell you that this product made me sob happy tears, I’m not kidding. I am only 7 DAYS into using the face wash and moisturizer (2x daily) and my face has NEVER looked this good. My acne is disappearing, my blackheads are so small I have to squint to see them, my fungal acne (those small colorless bumps) is fading. I have never seen a wash work like this. While such a strong dose of benzoyl peroxide will normally dry out your skin, I have found that using the moisturizer right after works perfect. I am so so happy about the improvement I’ve seen in. SEVEN DAYS, I cannot wait to keep using this and see what happens over the next few months. Ugh. Give this one a chance … I had given up hope!

Has cured my acne
I would wake up everyday with acne on my chin and ton of texture on my cheeks. Went to dermatologist for years! Tried every pill or cream he prescribed and nothing worked. But now i use this facewash twice a day and my skin looks brand new!!!!! No breakouts or texture. I have oily skin so it doesn’t dry me out but I would advise to rinse off right away, dont let it sit on your skin.

Work well but have a smell
I got this to use on some acne I was getting in my back and it works well. I’d squirt a little in my hand and rub them together to foam before rubbing on my back. I’d also let it sit for a little before washing it off.I’ve noticed a decrease in the acne on my back, and I only use this once a day so I haven’t noticed any skin drying out.This product does have a sort of chemical smell to it, but it’s easy enough to wash off your skin with a little extra soap.

We’ve tried so many products over the counter along with Rx with no improvement. This product has helped with my daughter’s acne without over drying.

Cleared my acne
This has cleared up the acne on my back better than any of the other things I’ve tried. It’s something easy to add to your skincare routine that makes all the difference. It does dry out your skin, so you may need to use a clean moisturizer afterwards.

Love this wash!
This is the only thing that helped my acne and pigmentation. These pictures are 3 months apart. I would definitely recommend this product!

My dermatologist recommended this to me for body acne and it is working great. I suffered for years and now everything is going very well. This product will work well for the well informed. Here’s what you need to know BEFORE purchasing this,Let it sit: let it sit 30 secondsDrying: this is a drying product, it doesn’t mean it’s bad or that you can’t use it. Part of why it works is it dries out the skin. Get a good moisturizer to use after this. I use a cerave night cream.Sensitive skin: this is a harsher product, if you have sensitive skin you might want to try one of the lower % ones (I know there are 3-5% available on Amazon)Foaming: this does not foam at all, I’m not sure why they label it as foaming. I use it as a body wash and it this bottle lasts for 1 month. It would go a lot longer if it foamed.Bleaching: can bleach hair and items it gets on.A not to Amazon- the star rating tags you added to this item don’t really apply. It can be used for sensitive skin but it depends on each person. It is not moisturizing and doesn’t claim to be. It has no fragrance and barely a scent. Pick some different keywords to rate on.

Works Well For Papulopustular Rosacea
Upon first use, my skin was sensitive, but I got used to the product after a week of using it once a day. I have Papulopustular Rosacea, so sensitive skin with acne and constant whiteheads. I use this on my face in combination with CETAPHIL, Hydrating Gentle Skin Cleanser for Dry to Normal Sensitive Skin, and over three weeks, it has more or less eliminated my acne. I only get about 1 or 2 white heads a day and no red or painful deep acne anymore. I’ve also used this on my inner thighs for deep cysts/ acne and no longer experience hidradenitis suppurativa (HS).

Would recommend!
If you have sensitive skin, don’t use on your face everyday. Read the instructions on the bottle for heavens sake!! Doesnt moisturize but does get rid of bacteria on your face or anywhere else on your body. The scent is bare able, but not the best. You’re only gonna smell it the 2 minutes it takes to wash your face, don’t worry. Does an amazing job 100%!!!!
