Philips AVENT Natural Response Baby Bottle Nipples: A Must-Have for New Moms
I recently purchased the Philips AVENT Natural Response Baby Bottle Nipples for my six month old son and I am extremely impressed with their performance. The nipples are designed to mimic the natural flow of breastmilk, which has made the transition from breast to bottle much smoother for my little one. The nipples are also made from a soft, flexible silicone material which feels comfortable for my son and allows him to latch on easily. One of the things I appreciate most about these nipples is the wide range of flow rates available. As a new mom, I was constantly trying to find the right flow rate for my son, and these nipples make it easy to adjust as he grows and his feeding habits change. The nipples also have an anti-colic design which has helped to reduce gas and fussiness during feedings.Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the Philips AVENT Natural Response Baby Bottle Nipples and would highly recommend them to other moms. They have made feeding time a much more enjoyable experience for both my son and me.

Baby seems to like them
I recently purchased the Philips AVENT Natural Response Baby Bottle Nipples for my six-month-old son and have been extremely satisfied with their performance. The nipples are designed to mimic the natural feel of breastfeeding and have helped to make the transition to bottle-feeding a smooth one for my son.The nipples are made of high-quality, soft silicone and are very flexible, which allows for a comfortable and secure fit. They also have a wide base and rounded shape, which helps to prevent nipple collapse.I also appreciate that the Philips AVENT Natural Response Baby Bottle Nipples are easy to clean and are compatible with most Philips AVENT bottle sizes.Overall, I highly recommend the Philips AVENT Natural Response Baby Bottle Nipples to any parents looking for a high-quality and natural-feeling option for bottle-feeding their baby.

Good Choice
I needed the next size up nipples for the bottles that I had. I’m glad that I was able to find them on Amazon and the four pack was really nice since I had only seen a two pack in the store

Baby loves them
Great nipples. I use them with the Avent glass bottles and they fit perfectly. Baby goes back and forth between breast and bottle no problem.

Great!!!
Great nipples and easy to wash!!

Functional
Works as expected. However, they are much softer than expected and tend to fold. Also had to bore the hole a bit wider, but that’s okay as I could do so, as needed, to control the feed flow.

Takes a long time to feed
I wanted to love this size as I have used the same brand for my first born but different type not the slow flow. Now that I have my 2nd, I purchased according to my baby’s age but unfortunately size 2 is too slow for my newborn. It takes him 30 mins to feed a 3oz? Next time I will purchase slow 3 or higher.

Very low flow – adjust accordingly
On our 2nd child, we revisited Avent. We really liked it for our first. However, the Flow 1-5 system is not the same. We ordered a Flow 1 (0m) for our newborn. As an adult, it was difficult to get any flow. Our old Flow 1 is much faster (there might have been a nipple with a “0” on it back then). I am having to purchase Flow 2 for my 3 week old.

Awesome for breastfeeding
We switch from breast to bottle all the time and my baby did not get nipple confusion. The flow rate is great because nothing comes out unless baby sucks, just like at the breast, not to mention it is great for traveling because it doesn’t spill. I love these bottles.

Era un regalo para mi sobrino. Mi cuñada me escribí para decirme que las chupas no le servían ya que estaban como rotas en la punta y el bebebe se ahoga porque le salía mucha leche. Me las devolvió y quiero un reembolso

Smaller??
These somehow seem smaller than the 1s and 2s. I had to poke holes in these to make them bigger. Very odd.

New model works for us
I was hesitant to buy this after all the bad reviews about Avent’s new nipple model, but we’re a few months away from being done with bottles and I didn’t want to invest in a whole new bottle set. So after a lot of research, I decided to just give it a try.Short: The new model works better for us than the old model. Don’t let the bad reviews scare you into buying a whole new bottle set.Old nipples: I used the same Avent bottles and old nipple style with our last baby, who was EBF for many months. When it came time to transition to bottles, they were comfortable at the (old) 2 level, even though that said it’s for a much younger age. BUT the nipple that was supposed to be for their age (old 4) was WAY too fast. Transitioning to 3 and then 4 was not easy or natural. I feel like this matters because I wanted to prepare them for drinking from cups with a faster flow.New nipples: This baby was also EBF for many months. Attempted to transition them to the faster nipple style (old 4 which we still had) but again, flow was way too fast. I needed to buy more of the medium range but, the only thing available for purchase was this new model. Didn’t want to invest in a new set of bottles so tried it and it’s so much better. Baby naturally moved between breast and bottle and is at the appropriate nipple level for age (new 5), which isn’t true for the older model. They’re able to get through bigger bottles in a normal amount of time. We’ve tried sippy cups so far and they’ve been fine. The reviews on Amazon and Target were so bad that I thought I’d have to get all new bottles but I’m really glad I tried these. For our baby transitioning from EBF, they work a lot better than the old model.

Sizing Is Off! *Caution When Ordering!!!
This must be a newly designed nipple because I ordered a level ”1” for my baby and these are much harder to drink from than the “0” we just sized up from! Took her 10 minutes to drink 1/2 oz. where she could have about finished a whole bottle in that time with the “1”s we have currently.*If something has changed with the design and sizing of these nipples is should be clearly indicated in the listing! Now I have no use for these bottle nipples as the flow is Much too slow. We have used this brand bottle with 3 kids and this is the only problem I have had so far.

Size up in nipple sizes for more flow
Ok so I love that these nipples mimic breast flow and they DO NOT LEAK! However my natural breast milk flow is a lot heavier than these nipples! my 7 week old baby nurses he gets a lot of milk at once so when we switched to bottles we started with the size 2 nipple he wasn’t able to get more than 1-2 oz at a time and it would take him 20 min to drink. So we went to size 3 and he could get 2-3 oz in about 20 min but I still felt like he wasn’t satisfied after feedings and at 7-8 weeks he should be drinking more. So I just got the size 5 nipple and it’s perfect for him he can literally down 4 oz in 5-10 min and is way more satisfied after feedings so I would recommend def sizing up don’t go based on age!!! At 7-8 weeks old the size 5 nipple works best for us

Only nipples my baby can use.
My baby (now 3 mo) has some trouble with eating, he tends to choke very easily. He’s had his tongue tie removed, but he still had a hard time eating. By his one month checkup, he was still struggling to gain weight! We’ve tried maybe 3 different bottles/nipples + breastfeeding. He’s struggled with everything (even with breastfeeding he latches and unlatches multiple times, choking and struggling to swallow milk). These nipples have a slow enough flow and he DOESN’T choke. We started with a size 2 (around 1.5 mo) but after a month or so it didn’t seem like a fast enough flow anymore, so we switched to a size 3, and he’s eating with great success. Very happy with Philips AVENT products.

The tips of the nipples seemed to widened easily affecting their durability. Otherwise, it’s a good buy.

I love the advent bottles and these “1” nipples. Just had my second child and used them with her too, and they’re super durable. I’ve been using them for 2+ years. Would definitely recommend for bottles!

Perfect
I bought it before in a different store it didn’t fit my bottles. The prices is good because is for 4. It fit perfect in my bottles and hole is fine for my 9 month baby. You don’t have to open a bigger one.

These saved me!!!!
These saved me, hence I felt compelled to actually write a review. I was struggling with bottle feeding my newborn because I would accidentally feed her too fast. Slowly she was starting to get fussier and fussier. I switched to these nipples and I got my happy baby back!! I does take 40 minutes to feed her a bottle, but if I were breastfeeding that is also how long it would take. In my mind it is time well spent. That is how long a newborn needs to take to eat each feeding. She is now more content and mama is forever grateful!! As far as the negative reviews, don’t be in such a rush!!! It pays to take your time!!

Seamless transition
Bought these because we’d grown out of the size 3. No issues replacing these for the other nipples; they fit perfectly. We do find when she starts sucking too fast the nipple tend to invert but I’m pretty sure that’s a user issue rather than the nipple.

New sizing
Super bummed… I bought these for my second baby not realizing they redid the sizing. I was so confused why he was having such a hard time drinking a bottle today. Size 1 now is like the old size 0. He does seem to latch way better on these but it is not fast enough flow. I’ll have to buy the next size up.

These nipples are a hit or miss
Like the title says, these nipples are a hit or miss. We have gone through multiple nipple flows and some work just fine and some don’t. It really depends on the package… it seems like they have horrible quality control. We have bought two flow 2 packages and one of the packages none of the nipples worked (holes were messed up). Same issue with flow 3. One package would be fine and baby wouldn’t have any issue getting milk, but then another package of the same flow there would be an issue sucking milk out. Their flow sizes make no sense either. The flow from size 3 to 4 is a big jump. Whereas flow 2 to 3 is not much of a difference and requires so much sucking to get milk out. For our two month old, we have found flow 4 works for her right now. For better quality, I would recommend MAM bottles and nipples instead.

Defective, hit and missed
These are great however it is a hit and miss in getting a non defective nipple. 1 out of 4 leaks, and another one I had from a bottle set its nipple also drips. Manufacturer needs to work on their consistency. I cant return the whole package due to one nipple not working properly.

Life saver….exactly what I was looking for
So let me start by saying this flow 1 is not the same as the flow 1 years ago…. this one is way slower….my daughter is now 7 used her old flow 1 ….was faster causing my 5 day old baby to drink so fast she would choke…. this new version makes her work for it just like the breast….. love it thank you avent

super durable, awful to clean!
While my daughter loves these nipples I find it extremely hard to clean. There is a little area above the base of the nipple its like a groove to fit the bottle but if milk/formula gets in there it MOLDS. and its very hard to get the area clean and dry. Honestly though that is the only con with this product. My daughter has feeding issues and latches great to these.

Love these for my exclusively breastfed baby!
We love the natural response nipples! I’m a first time mama and I exclusively breastfeed our little one. I worried about nipple confusion/nipple preference when giving him a bottle. These nipples are great because I can see that he uses the same latch and feeding technique when drinking from this nipple! He has absolutely no trouble switching between breast and bottle. He’s 9 weeks old and we use the flow 2 which seems to be a good pace for him. We originally tried the Medela Calma bottles but the Natural Response Bottle is much better! The Calma has the same theory that the baby much suck to release milk, however, the nipple is very “aggressive” as my husband called it. My mom also worried that the nipple was too long and stiff. Baby made valient efforts and did finish a bottle or two but he struggled and didn’t like the experience. The Natural Response nipple is much softer and more flexible. I’m beyond pleased and baby is too!

Updated review!
This is horrible, why does no milk come out? We went from I guess the old version flow 2 tried to up to flow 3 for our baby and after about 5 mins I noticed no change in oz. He was able to finish 3oz in about 8 mins with flow 2 old version, the flow 3 took 20 mins! And to try and find the older version is not existence!! I’m so sad we just invested in the glass bottles and idk what to do if this is the new nipples because my baby isn’t barely getting anything!!! Super bad!!! Avent bring back the old design and fire whoever decided this new version is better because they obviously didn’t test it out on babies!!!Update: we ordered the old style nipple for size 2 off of the avent website which was working great but started collapsing, we gave the size 3 new version a try again (at 4 months) and it actually went really well, he slowed down his feeding and the spit up is super minimal now because he takes a little longer to drink (about 10-15 minutes for 4/5oz of milk) I would recommend waiting till baby is a little older to try the size 3 ones and has a good latch/suction (signs like collapsing previous nipple)

No dripping/leaking
We switched solely to these because the other avent bottle nipples were dripping. No more mess with these. Besides, Our 3 month old drinks from these so much better, she seems more relaxed when she is eating and doesn’t fight us anymore when we start a feed. Definitely worth it.

Works for newborns
These nipples have been durable and my newborn can easily eat from them. I noticed with other nipples he couldn’t make a good seal and kept “slipping” off while eating. He doesn’t have that problem with these. I really love the natural flow as he likes to eat and with other nipples, even slow flow, he would choke because he couldn’t control the intake. Highly recommend.

Size 5 has good flow without overwhelming baby
Size 5 is much better than sizes 3 and 4, which had almost no flow and discouraged the baby. Sizes 3 and 4 are not recommended, because they have less flow than size 2 unless the baby sucks very hard, which ours either couldn’t or didn’t know that he was supposed to. To clarify, sizes 0, 1, and 2 are just a hole, then sizes 3, 4, and 5 have a simple valve that requires sucking on to open.Until about 6 months old, the sizes 0, 1, 2 worked well, but when that was too limiting we tried the next size up (3) and that was worse than 2. We modified it with scissors to be somewhat acceptable. Size 4 was also too hard for him and we modified that also. Size 5 finally worked well.

Not the nipple flow you expect
Apparently Avent has “updated” their nipple flows from even just 1.5 years ago without noting that on this product. I have an almost 2 year old that I previously used these nipples with, so when my newborn was having difficulty taking his size 0 nipples and getting frustrated with the bottle, I recognized it was time to size up. I bought these size 1s, anxiously awaiting their arrival so my newborn can stop screaming over the bottle and have a relaxing bottle feed. When they came, I used them with the next feeding, hoping this would finally give us all some peace and calm during bottle feedings. To my amazement, he was taking FOREVER to drink his bottle, despite his ferverent sucking. He started to seem angry and I couldnt understand why. 10-15 minutes had passed and I looked to see how much he had drank from the bottle – nearly NONE. I checked to see if the nipple was plugged – it wasnt, but was very difficult to get anything out of. We tried a little longer with no success, so I eventually went back to a 0 nipple from before and figured maybe this particular nipple was just a defect… Next feeding, I tried a different nipple of this batch. Same problem. It was near impossible for me to suck anything out of, let alone my 2 month old! I came back on here and read the reviews and realized they had CHANGED their nipple sizing and what is now a size 1 is really more like a -0 (if that existed). Why this size even exists, I have no idea. No newborn would ever be able to get milk from this. I barely could! Why the F*** would they sell this size and not even mention on the page that the sizing is different than a year and a half ago??!! SOOO frustrating! I then ordered a size 3 (which is very confusing because the old size 3 I have from this brand are too flowing for even my toddler). I havent tried the new size 3s (which are their old size 1s) yet, but talk about frustrating for me and my baby!! So ridiculous! Makes me loose respect for the brand. They just got 11 extra dollars from me for nipples no one can use.

Great for transitioning breastfed babies
There were a lot of negative reviews but other bottles were not working for my breastfed baby and I really liked these for my first. She responded so well to these, latching and flow, it was a game changer. She’s 4 months and the 3 works better than the 4 currently. Perhaps the negative reviews are for full bottle fed babies from the beginning but my baby really likes that it doesn’t flow unless she’s sucking and can suck these down pretty fast as it mimics breastfeeding.

Love
We love the avent bottles and nipples. These newer nipples are great and gives my babe all the bower to get as much milk as she wants and because it doesn’t drip she can take as many breaks as she needs without be forced to keep drinking. I also love that there are minimal pieces to these bottles and everything is so easy to clean and sterilize.

Only bottles and nipples my son can use!
These nipples are great. These allow the perfect flow for my son. Any other kind he has used leak all over and create a mess. These don’t. The only time milk comes out is when he’s sucking. I can turn these upside down and they don’t leak.

Great for reflux babies
My son has reflux so we use flow 2 and will be using flow 2 for a long time! I tried to up the flow to 3 but his body wasn’t ready yet and that’s ok!! I’ll save those for when he’s older he’s only 2 months now. But flow 2 works great! And pace feeding goes great. These are amazing nipples I highly reccomend them.

Good enough
I gave such rating because they were cloudy compare to the previous nipples so i am wondering if that’s what they look like now. Also they fit the covers perfectly without and leakage. Seeing that i am in the Caribbean i cant return them so they will have to do.

Baby gained weight after using these
Im a new mom of a 3 month old son and these nipples saved my life. I have the phillips avent bottles since the day he was born and was using them fine in the beginning when i couldnt produce enough milk. However, my supply went up and is mostly breastfeeding except when i go to school 2x a week. My husband and in laws take care of him those days and they couldnt get to make him drink the bottle even if it has breastmilk. Thats when i know it’s nipple confusion. It wasn’t good coz he can’t get enough milk on days that im gone. I first looked up glass bottles and luckily their glass bottles came with the natural nipples so i got to try them before buying. The glass bottles came with flow 1 nipples and my baby was already 3 mos,. I tried them first and right off the bat he didnt refuse it. He was able to latch and drink from the bottle since then. He actually gained weight because i would breastfeed and he would drink formula also so now he is meaty. Also they said no milk is coming out of these but i tried them myself it was pretty strong. I could drink milk from flow 1 nipples with no problem. So i bought these flow 3 ones since my baby takes a while to finish with the flow 1. Im very satisfied and will highly recommend these nipples for those babies with nipple confusion.

Flow 2 did NOT work for our newborn.
I ordered flow 2 for our newborn and couldn’t figure out why he was waking up constantly, and super frustrated. I noticed there was barely any sips taken from the bottle even after he was sipping the same one for a long period of time. Finally decided to try flow 3 today, and he quickly finished an oz and seems MUCH more content, and stays asleep longer. I just wanted to leave a review about our experience, to hopefully save some other parents from going through this exact issue, or to at least give them the idea to try flow 3 if 2 doesn’t seem to be working.

Breastfed and bottle fed baby
I breastfeed my daughter. I was afraid of giving her a bottle, because I was scared she wouldn’t want to latch on to me anymore. Buying these has been great! Normally if you buy the Avent bottle they come with a size 2. I wanted to try the lowest flow (size 1) they have in order for it to be the closest to breastfeeding. The bottle does not leak at all you can flip it up side down, shake it upside down roll it over, and nothing spills! Your baby will have to work for the milk (just as they would if they were breastfeeding) i interchange from bottle for boob with no problem.I see people complain that they switch to these and nothing would come out or flow too slow and babies would get mad. I believe it’s because those babies were used to fast flow bottles already so it’s hard for them to dial back to this. But I’ve been giving her this bottle since we got home from the hospital. She’s 3 months now, and I have had no problem continuing breastfeeding her whenever I want.

If your baby is NOT breastfed, read this! And consider Dr. Brown’s instead.
If your baby is breastfed and you are trying to make the transition to a bottle, do not read my review, this brand of bottle/nipple might work for you (I cannot say for certain, that is just what I’ve gathered from other reviews). If you are reading these reviews you have probably gathered by now that there is an “old version” and “new version” of these nipples. If you purchase them from amazon, you will only get the new version. I have read there are select stores where you can still find the old, but it seems they are harder and harder to find.I have a now 2.5 year old son who used this brand of bottle/nipple from the time he was a couple months old (he was never breastfed, we used a smaller bottle for the first couple months). He never had any issues with these and did very well with them.My daughter is now 3 months old. She has also never been breastfed. We used these bottles and nipples for her since she was born, with the “older version” of the nipple that we still had from my son (I know you’re not supposed to reuse nipples from kid to kid, shame on me, but they worked). Anyway, she quickly went through the sizes, and a couple weeks ago it seemed the size 3 she was using was already too slow (again, she just turned 3 months old a few days ago). So I went to move on to the size 4 but the only thing I could get was the new version. She would suck and suck and seemingly get nothing out. She would often get exhausted and fall asleep at the bottle. I know it wasn’t just that she was not needing the same amount of food because at her normal feeding times she would start to go at the bottle furiously and take in maybe an ounce right away but then she would get so exhausted she would stop or fall asleep and keep “sucking” for 45-60 minutes but barely finish half the bottle. So, I read some reviews and realized the size/flow change that Philips Avent had made. I saw there was a size up (size 5) so I went out to my local store and picked up some of those, thinking it would probably solve the problem. Nope, exact same thing happened. Furious sucking then falling asleep while still “sucking” at the bottle because she was hungry but not getting anything out. The size 5 nipple is supposed to be for 6 months +…my daughter is 3 months old. SO, after a few frustrating days of this on repeat (she also woke up in the middle of the night one night screaming because she was hungry after not eating all day–she hasn’t done that in about a month), I decided to make the investment of completely switching bottles. I switched to the Dr. Brown’s wide neck bottles (IMPORTANT NOTE: if you already own a set of these philips avent bottles, the Dr. Brown’s wide mouth nipples WILL fit into them. The caps don’t fit perfectly, but they work, if you want to try to switch just the nipples instead of the whole set of bottles.) I started with the size 2 nipples (which are labeled 3m+) on that set and it was still too slow for her. We went up to size 3 of that brand (which are labeled 6m+) and they work perfectly for her. There are also still 2 sizes up from there, whereas, the Philips size 5 is the fastest flow.Bottomline: if your baby has always been fed by a bottle and not breast or if you are having a baby and don’t plan to breastfeed, consider a different set of bottles/nipples.I fully realize that not every baby is the same, and these nipples may work for some formula fed babies (hence two stars and not one), but I think it should be better labeled that these nipples are geared toward babies who are breastfed. And if the time it took me to type out this whole review helps just one parent not have to go through the frustration that I have the last couple weeks, it will be worth it.
