  1. Amazon Customer

    Gate

This gate kept the dogs safely in another room

  2. Pancho

Works very well, especially the lock feature

We use this to keep ornery cats separated and it works like a charm. Installation is easy and the locking mechanism prevents not closing the gate properly accidentally. Sturdy construction.

  3. Lynn Krembs

    Life Saver

I absolutely love this product. I have three of them installed to keep my puppy corralled where we want her and out of areas we don’t, like bedrooms where she could be out of sight getting in trouble if alone. I was tired of closing doors, climbing over other baby gates and then found this brand. Very easy to adjust and install on different door openings, the walk thru ability is perfect and you can prevent the gate from opening so a puppy or full grown dog, or child, cannot accidentally open it. Looks nice installed too, and allows heat and air conditioning to circulate preventing hot or cold rooms due to doors being closed prior to having the product. Highly recommend!

Great purchased fit in the area perfectly

  5. Sherry

    Perfect baby gate

I’m buying my 3rd one today to add to another section of the house since the baby is getting bigger. These are great. They are not cheap and flimsy like other baby gates. My son is almost 9 months old. He hangs on them and pulls with his 23 lb self and the gates don’t budge. I love the fact that it opens so you don’t have to break your neck teying to step over them as well. I highly recommend these.

  6. Merissa

    Good gate !

We got this gate to keep our dog from going upstairs when we’re not home because we have an upstairs roommate move in. It was easy to put together and install the lock though you have to twist out the wall pieces enough for it to lock securely. It isn’t hard just time consuming.

  7. Forbiddance

    Works great

    Good gate, easy to install

  8. TB

    Get It!

This a great door fence, it was super easy to instal and it looks nice. Very sturdy as well!

  9. Ken

    Good

Very quiet to use compared to the kind you open with a step lever. Very easy to install.

  10. Rick D.

    Pain in the backside.

Not easy to assemble. I returned it.

  11. Chel

    great value

This gate is a great value for the price. My only complaints are: 1. it only opens one direction 2. you have to carefully shut it, meaning it will not swing shut, it only shuts when the latch is lifted. However, we put the gate in a location where those negatives aren’t a big deal and moved our other (more expensive but with better features gate) to the high traffic area. I’d highly recommend this gate if you need a good value and you are fine with the limitations I listed. The gate is made well and is as easy as other comparable gates to install.

    Great and convenient

I bought this to keep my dogs out of our bedroom area and it’s been really convenient and much better than the one we had before that didn’t have a door

    Great gate!

As usual, arrived from Amazon in good condition, came sooner than expected! Easy to read directions, easy set up, works great! Hopefully it puts an end to my dog Houdini, escaping from the yard!

  17. Wagonwheel 3.14149

    Great Gate.

The latch still works, but it catches when trying to open the gate.

  18. Ronald Perkins

    Works great

Easy to install. Works great. We use for 3 super hyper smaller dogs

  19. Sandra

    Amazing

This was very easy to set up, and ultimately I didn’t end up having to drill at all. The lock system is simple, my 6 yr old niece can use it to get in and out easily and if effectively keeps the dogs out of the barred off area. Highly recommend

    Good one

It was gifted out, but they said it works great, they put it in their front door

  21. sbm07

Works, but is easy for older toddlers to open

This is a great gate for very young kids/babies. Only downside is our 3 year old figured it out fairly quickly, but works on the 18 month old still.

  22. Kelly Fitzgerald

    Sturdy

Not the sturdiest gate unless its locked.

  23. Ted S.

    Nice for the price

Easy to install and works well. At the time of purchase they were close to the same price as the cheep plastic gates found in most retail stores. So bonus there.

  24. Darla Turner

    Best gate ever !!

We love this keeps our puppy safe and he can’t chew it or jump.

  25. Linda Malcomb

Why didn’t I buy this sooner?

Wish I bought this sooner! Serves as a double purpose of a dog gate and baby gate for our grandkids. We’ve been using a hard plastic baby gate (without door) for the last year. Decided to get one with a gate due to a surgry as I can’t even tell you how many times we’ve almost fallen trying to get over it! SOOO nice to have a gate to walk through. Easy to open, easy to lock (if needed – normally we don’t need the locking feature as it holds well without it). Easy to install. And it looks so much nicer than the plastic. Would totally recommend it!

I LIKED THAT IT WAS EASY TO INSTALL AND EASY TO OPEN. I US IT FOR MY DOGS TO STAY IN ONE ROOM.

  29. M. McCall

    Love it.

This is easy to use. We use it to keep our big 97 pound dog out of the kitchen. She will not jump over it either.

  30. Katherine

    We love it

We bought one and loved it. We needed a second and we got the same one. My husband somehow fixed them to go both ways, but my only complaint is that could be a problem if you don’t know how to do that.

32 Inch Door Here – Purchased for My Dogs – Decent Product

My review is a little long, so grab a drink and sit back. I know that this gate is mainly for children BUT it is also listed under pet products when you go to the Amazon pet category. My main reason for purchasing this gate is because my wife is tired of setting up our existing gate system for our two small dogs (10 lbs each) every time we leave the house. The gates we own are an older model of the

    Evenflo Memory Fit II Gate

, which work VERY well (the pressure is strong enough to where they don’t/can’t push the gate down). However, setting them up is a real pain and because my wife’s mother purchased

North States Supergate Easy Close Metal Gate, Bronze

for their home, my wife suggested we get one as well because she really liked how you can walk through those without complete disassembly. After using that gate at my mother-in-law’s house, I decided I didn’t like the

North States Supergate Easy Close Metal Gate, Bronze

. The locking mechanism required you had to manually twist it back to lock it. Whether it was set up wrong or if it was an actual defect I’m not sure. But because of that AND the price of $50, I knew it wasn’t an option for us.So after looking around for baby gates, I found this one. My main reason for selecting this is because (as of June 2013) it’s ranked the #1 best seller for indoor baby gates, as listed here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/pet-supplies/166868011/ . Plus the price point of $22.97 at the time of purchase means that it was really affordable. Before I purchased this gate, I compared dozens of different types and trust me I really read the Amazon reviews. For this particular gate, I took notice of the many 1 to 3 star reviews (many which complained of the fitment to doors). Most of the warnings come from doors that are greater than 33 inches and when I measured my door, mine was exactly 32 inches… so I thought I would be OK. However upon installation, I’m kind of indifferent about it but I’m keeping it because it works. The following are my thoughts about this product.## DOOR MECHANISM ##Although the door only opens in one direction, I really like how easy it is to open. You really can open this gate with one hand. Your thumb pushes the locking slider out and the rest of your fingers grip and pull up on the handle to open. To lock it (after the gate is closed), you push down on the handle and with enough pressure, it automatically slides the locking slider over the handle. That “click” sound assures you that the door is locked and that there is no way to open without going through the opening routine.## GATE FITMENT ##The fitment is done by extra long bolts that slide in horizontally into the frames of the gate. As you turn the dials on them, they basically “unscrew” from the frame and go outward. As it goes outward, it will eventually touch the wall/door frame you are trying to secure. By continually turning, you will cause enough pressure where the gate will mount itself and stand upright. However not every door frame/hall are the same width and the bolts are only so long. Meaning they can only extend out so far until they either become too flimsy to hold the gate up OR are not wide enough. That’s where the extensions come into play. You get a 6 inch extension with the gate but as with other reviewers mention, it’s too wide for most applications. Since my door frame is 32 inches wide (and the gate is around 28 inches), I couldn’t use the extension. I’m barely at the threshold of where this gate is too flimsy to be mounted at the door (I had to use the gate anchors) to secure it.## GATE PRESSURE ##The way this gate is secured to the wall or door frame is by pressure. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, you turn the dials on them to tighten the gate to secure it. However, I have a few issues with this. The bottom part of the gate can be tightened as much as you want. Obviously the tighter you turn the knobs, the more pressure there is between the gate and with that, there is more resistance from movement. I’m not sure how it is with other products of the same type, but for this product, there is NO WAY you can tighten the TOP of the gate tight enough AND MAKE IT SECURE WITHOUT the use of the anchors. Let me explain why. If you look at pictures, the bottom frame of the gate is one piece and extends the entire length of the gate. When the gate is open, you step over that part. Structurally that makes this gate sturdy. However on the TOP PART, there is no such one-piece frame(that’s how you walk through the gate). Because of this, as you tighten, you run into the issue that if you tighten too much, it puts pressure on the actual gate door and it won’t open.If I’ve confused you, think about it this way… say you stuck a metal rod between a clamp where the ends of the rod are touching each side of the clamp… effectively turning the clamp’s “C” shape into a “D” shape (the rod in this diagram is the straight line of the letter D). That straight line is the door while the ends of the clamp are the gate itself. As the clamp stays loose, removal of that rod (aka, the act of openning the door) is easy to move from the clamp. As you tighten the clamp (to secure the gate between the hall/door frame), the harder it is to remove the metal bar. It gets to the point where if you want it really secure between the door, you won’t be able to open the gate because there’s so much pressure between the door, the gate, and the wall.So then you have to ask yourself, how tight is good enough? Well, personally I was able to “push” the top part of the gate to where it slid out with relative ease. That in itself can be DISASTROUS, especially if you’re buying this for the top of stairs. Now, I know a full grown adult male is considerably stronger than a baby, but still that causes some concern. A baby that can walk or toddler with sufficient strength can walk over and likely push/bang on this gate until it moves. BECAUSE OF THIS, YOU NEED TO USE THE ANCHORS. The anchors (supplied) are actually screwed into the wall and then the ends of the bolts fit into the anchors. By doing this, you prevent any movement of the gate. Because my dogs are pretty strong (and known to push on my other gates), I HAD to use the anchors. If my dog can push a gate down over time, then I can imagine a baby can do the same.## USAGE W/ DOGS ##As I mentioned, my dogs are both 10 lbs each. One is really skinny/slender and long. I did read a review where someone complained and docked a star because their dog could squeeze through the gate, but that’s not the case with my dogs. The spacing of the gate’s bars are close enough where they can’t go through and I made sure the gate was mounted center between my door frame so that there was no way they could escape on the sides either. All in all, I’m satisfied with this gate enough to where I’m going to keep it. I’m sure that when I do have a child I’ll move this over to the stairs and have a better fitment than I do now with my dogs. Overall I give this product 4 stars. The removal of a star is from the “GATE PRESSURE” category, where the fact that you cannot SECURE the gate FIRMLY without the use of the anchors. Hopefully this reviews helps with your purchasing decision.

Use More tension, that’s how it locks the gate

Easy to install and move around, the top of my wall is a little wider than the bottom because of the baseboards but I was able to adjust everything perfectly. This is a temporary setup but I decided to keep it for a little while longer to help my dog learn to stay in certain areas sometimes because he can bother guests around the holidays by running up on them and he pushes doors open with his nose. Especially when they’re in the bathroom. He’s very rude so this is specifically to contain my dog because he sometimes can get past certain doors that don’t close all the way. I’ve used this in different scenarios and if it’s a wider hallway I was able to use the attachment to make it a little wider. I definitely want to get more pieces just in case I want to make it even wider for another scenario but right now this is all I need. I’m not very skinny so when I walk through, I do have to be careful not to bump into the actual gate because I don’t want to knock it down with my hips LOL so I just walked through carefully and maybe turn slightly to the side but it’s not that much of an inconvenience for me. I just don’t like the feeling of my clothing brushing across the gate. And of course the bottom rail is a tripping hazard in my opinion. So far I haven’t tripped over it. And when it’s open my dog likes to walk right through easily as well

Good value for the money, study enough for my puppy

Pleasantly surprised with how well this works. Our doorway did not require the extender and we chose not to install the “cups” for extra secure placement because they do require drilling into the door. Not sure if it would feel like the plastic cups would be needed if the gate were wider (with the extension). So far the pressurized rubber stoppers that press against the inside of the door work just fine and the gate is placed very sturdily. It only opens one way but this turned out to be fine for us and when we want it to stay open in does not get in the way of anything.I like that it has levels of locking. First… you can open it with one hand and go through and secure it fairly loosely. If you want to lock it the next step, you need two hands. If you want it to be even more secure you can move a tab on the bottom on either one or two sides. This is a nice feature if you have children. We are using this for a puppy who thankfully does not jump on it and is smart, but not smart enough to figure out how to lift it on top ! Toddlers might be able to figure that out but if you lock it with the 2nd or 3rd or 4th choices they will not.For the value it’s pretty sturdy and easy to set up. We’re pretty happy with it and it keeps the puppy out of the kitchen until she learns better manners !

Good but kids will figure this lock out.

This gate is great, easy to install and easy to operate. It does not swing both ways, which is mildly annoying but not a big deal.My only concern is that, if you’re buying this to keep kids from getting someplace, this lock isn’t the best. My kid figured out how to unlock and open this gate at about 30 months old. Works great for keeping my pets out of my office but is basically just a minor inconvenience for my kid now.If it’s to keep your kid from something dangerous, like stairs, I might recommend a different gate with a different lock.

    My new favorite house item

We recently got our own place and my son is going to be one soon, we’ll he needed this gate up in his room so that I’m able to clean or get things down without him getting into anything he’s not supposed too. He wanted us put up the gate and he want he’s us open and close it so he does try opening it but has not figured it out…. Yet! Works wonders !

  36. Keisha Parman

    Works Too Well

Got it because our old gate (brown contraption behind this one in pic) was a pain to carry upstairs and down every night/morning. The gash you see in the wall is from family trying to jump over temporary gates and knocking them down. This one allows us to simply open a door and go through. But now, my cat is confused. She cannot seem to under that she can still jump over it – just tries to squeeze through. She’ll get it eventually. Keeps the dogs from running upstairs and any future grandbabies. Easy setup and very sturdy.

    Great Gate!

I’m very pleased with this gate as it worked perfectly for what I needed it to do. We had family who visited us for a few days, who has a dog and I needed to have my cats in an area where they felt safe. And with the part of the gate that swings open, I did not have to step over the gate which with past gates, I had to do, with difficulty. So that addition to the gate was fantastic.

To protect my 15 year old dog

Took a few minutes to figure out what I was doing wrong, but I’m blaming user error rather than the instructions. Lastly, there is a pin that holds the gate in place, and the hole the pin goes in wasn’t cut properly so I had to take my hammer and ‘persuade’ it to go in. Besides that, great, though I’d argue it is a bit pricey

    Great customer service and gate

We had a small issue with our gate and the company took care of it immediately. These were easy to install and after a couple months, they are still great! I ordered the little squares that go between the wall and the gate to protect the wall and I think those have helped keep the gate in place as well.

  40. Olivia carl

    Great!

A little hard to figure out the exact pressure to fully shut the gate. Once it’s in correctly, it has worked perfect. First gate my border collie hasn’t been able to get out of, while being easy enough for my 3 year old to figure out if not all the way locked!

  41. brian

    Very good product

My one year old puts these to the test lol. They keep him out of sections of the house we don’t want him in at the time. We got x2 love these keep our little one in safe area and very sturdy with wall attachments. Highly recommend

Great Gate for Litle Kids and Pets Alike!! Even for walls with Quarter Round Moldings

I have owned one of these gates for years now. That gate transitioned from being a gate for kids at the top of the stairs to a pet gate to ensure our dog stays within the kitchen boundaries. Just bought my second set to use it at the stairs that lead to the basement, again to keep my yorkie from marking all over our basement. An issue a lot of people are asking about is how to install these gates when your floor has Quarter Round Moldings. I found a way that works really well as shown in the pictures, by simply turning around the wall cups that come with the gate so these are now flush with the moldings. The gate is secured and sturdy and I don’t have to damage my moldings or cut them to fix the gate. It has the added advantage that the gates still rests on the floor. One final advice: please ensure you pad the bottom rail of the gate if you are installing it on hardwood floors to avoid eventual damage caused by the metal. I use Adhesive Foam Weather Stripping Tape so it will quickly glue to the rail and stay in place. You can find in may different with so I am sure there will be one for your gate (like there was for mine).

    Gate Opening about 16″

We placed this at the top of our stairs leading down to the laundry room. It’s pretty good construction and easy to use the latch. However, be aware the gate opening is only about 16″ making it difficult to navigate with dogs at your feet while carrying a basket of clothes through it.

  44. Chloe

    It’s fine

So we bought it because it’s advertised as a pressure-mount gate however if you want the gate to actually work you have to screw it into the wall. We didn’t want to but we did and it works well, we don’t have a baby but use it for our two dogs. After screwing it in it’s mostly stayed put

  45. donald

    Baby’s vs dogs

We are using this gate to stop a baby from getting into the kitchen when the dogs are eating and stop the dogs from getting to the baby when he is eating! Works great

  46. JOLIE Nottelson

    Arrived damaged

Product arrived in a clearly resealed box and packaging. Paint was chipped and scratched. The hex key was missing. Still a good product that is quite functional. I debated returning it, but in the end, felt returning it to potentially land in a landfill, would be a poor use of resources. I was disappointed to receive a used product when I paid for a new one

  47. Ariel

    Perfect!

Perfect for our needs and sturdy. One of the gates (we bought two) was harder to install, it may have been bent at some point so we did have to open the widening more to slide the other piece in but once we did that, it was great!

  48. Peg

    This is so much safer!

Install was easy, tho I am fairly handy with tools, some may not be. This is soo much safer than me stepping over the regular child gates. No falling!

  49. RONALD B.

    Excellent

Very well made and thought out. When you first put it together, it looks crooked but it was made like that on purpose so that after it’s installed it straightens out and you get the right amount of pressure to hold it securely in place.

  50. Akili Wilson

    Secure

What I love most is the security. I have a two story home and one of my biggest concerns for my infant son is the stairs. It’s easy to install and the rubber pads on the ends of the gate gives that extra firmness so it isn’t flimsy in any way. The lock feature isn’t as complicated as other gates. Just pull the tab, raise the arm, and you’re ready to move up or down without worrying if the gate will fall or worse removing it completely and re-installing it every day. Over all, I’d definitely recommend this gate to anyone looking for a baby gate.

    Keeps the dogs out

Installed in just a few minutes. Screwing the cups into the walls isn’t necessary and I just skipped that step. The instructions do not mention how to attach the expander piece, but it is obvious and easy to attach. Worth noting, there is a bar that runs along the floor under the door. If you are a klutz or accident prone just be mindful of that or look for a model without the bar.

Attractive, heavy duty gate, latch & hinges are very smooth, might not be best as a toddler gate

I got this for a pretty unorthodox reason but I’m really glad I did cause it’s working out really well for me. I have a litter box for my two cats in the bathroom because it’s the easiest place for us to keep it contained….unfortunately I also have two dogs and they will make a huge mess out of it if I don’t keep them out of there. For a while I was using a regular baby gate but it was such a pain in the butt to have to step over it every time I wanted to go in and out of the bathroom. I also had to put a box on either side of it so that they could get in and out without having to scale the gate so I not only had to step over the gate, I also had to step over the boxes. And taking the more traditional baby gate up and down over and over again is not a fun task so I was kind of at my wits end. When I got this one I was hoping the bars would be just wide enough that they could fit their heads through but unfortunately they were just a little bit too close together for them to fit…..which ordinarily for most people I’m sure would be a good thing since these are generally used to contain more than one species of creature to one side or the other, haha. After looking at the problem logically for a few minutes I realized that I could actually just mount the gate in the door frame about 5 inches up from the floor so that the cats can pop under it easily but the dogs can’t fit through it. And it works PERFECTLY. The frame of the gate is obviously higher off the floor so I have to remember to step over it and I suppose it could be a trip hazard for some, but I haven’t had a single problem remembering.Install was actually remarkably easy and it was very well described in the directions – just insert the four pins in the holes at the four corners, hold it in the doorway, and then unscrew the tension cap thingies until the rubber feet are firm against the door. A couple review said it would be better with two people but I did it by myself in 2-3 minutes. I was dumb and didn’t even measure my door frame first (Durp!) but even though the item description says 29″-39″ opening I was actually able to fit it into the 28 1/2″ door frame. Upon first trying it I was actually really afraid it was going to be a bust and not fit even with the tension caps screwed in as far as they would go, but with a little bit of exertion I was able to get it to squeeze in and then only needed to unscrew the caps maybe 1/8″ on either side to get it to stay super firm in the door frame. This one stays in MUCH better than the wooden baby gates that I’ve always used in the past. Even at their tightest with the little notches that the metal piece fits into I could never get nearly as nice, firm fit as this one has. And actually at first I did have it extended too far and the latch kept sticking really obnoxiously but I unscrewed each side just a few turns on and it works very smoothly now. The gate also comes with an extender to make it up to 7 1/2″ longer but I obviously didn’t need that and ended up just storing it in the closet in case I ever decide to use it in a different area. The latch is extremely easy to use…..which would be a blessing and a curse for most people using it as a baby gate. It does have a little red “lock” that fits over the latch so that it can’t be opened, but I can tell you right now my friend’s very smart 2 year old would have this sucker figured out in a matter of minutes. I’m not really sure how you would avoid that though because unlike the baby gates that have the closure that can just be put on the other side, this one is right on top and pretty easily reachable. Fortunately for me, no matter how brilliant they are, my dog’s don’t have thumbs… ;)The metal of the gate itself seems really heavy duty and sturdy and all of the fittings were really nice quality as well. I imagine this gate is going to hold up for a long time and I actually think it looks more attractive than the standard wooden baby gates too. My dogs are pretty annoyed I’ve blocked their access but the cats and the rest of the family are all happy not to have to deal with that nasty nonsense anymore. 🙂

Great gate at a great price!

We have a Senior dog, that needs to be separated from our younger pup, and its such a pain, climbing over those traditional baby gates. This short girl LOVES being able to open the gate, and walk through, vs having to always step over the old school gates. I love this gate so much, I just ordered 2 more! It only took a few min to assemble. YOU NEED THIS GATE!!!

Works great and easy to install

This is perfect for what I needed to do. I bought this for the top of my stairs to keep my dog from going down the steps. Very simple to use, lift up the handle and open the gate. The gate it’s self does not have to be lifted up like others do. Keeps my dogs exactly where I need them to be. Easy to install, unscrew the plungers on both sides, held in place by pressure. It does come with four plastic rounds to secure in place, but for my purpose, I do not need that. This stays in place by pressure and the rubber stoppers. Took about five minutes to install, no tools are needed if you’re not using those plastic pieces. When I open the gate, it stays open, no propping is needed and doesn’t try to close. It was a great price and I would definitely recommend.

    Great gate

This was easy to install and we’ve had no issues. It took us a while to get used to having it in place (we both have walked into it in the middle of the night and knocked it out of place) but it was easy to re-install, and is study enough not to have been damaged nor did it damage the door frame. Would recommend to others.

    Gate

I bought this gate for my sister. She has a young dog that loves to play chase with her older cat. She loves this gate as it is easy to put up and then take down as needed. It dosen’t leave any marks on the wall and is eassy for her to get through when she needs too.

Affordable and Sturdy Baby Gate with a Door

I’ve used it for a few days now and it’s been working great. Install for me has been a bit tricky due to the size of my hallway being near the limit in between using the extension and not. I wish they included a 4 inch extension and a 6 inch.Overall my son has pushed on the gate and it hasn’t budged. I highly recommend using the cups that screw into the walls. Not using the cups the gate will slide on the walls making it not as safe. Even with the bolts super tight. The gate itself is a great feature. The spring loaded lock offers good retention that my toddler won’t be able to unlock. Also I can easily open the gate with one hand while holding my toddler. Closing and locking the gate is also super easy.

    Its a good gate

Its a good gate, sturdy and easy to assemble, i kind of wish the latch system was a little better you can only pull it one way it can’t be used both ways. Also the whole gate is metal but the latch system. It makes me a little worried that some bashing against might break it but seems sturdy enough.

    Very easy and sensible

I think these are near perfect gates ! Incredibly easy to install and have such a clean fresh look. However I didn’t give it 5 stars because I will say the gate opening itself is very narrow . I’m a size 2 and I still only have a few inches on either side of me when I pass through it . Other than that it’s great. I did have to use the extension it came with but I wouldn’t be surprised if most people need MORE than one .

    Love!

I’m using this as a pet gate and it works great. The bars are close enough that my small dog can’t get through. The lock works great. Having a door make my life easier not having to step over or take down a gate all the time.
