Meet Our Farmers
Maricela Aguilar, Honduras
We have had the pleasure of working with the Aguilar family since 2012. They established their 31.1-acre farm in 1997. Maricela has helped on the family farm since age 11 and has recently taken the lead in the production and commercialization of sustainable, certified coffees.
Pedro Fiallos, Honduras
Pedro and his family have a rich history of hard work, turmoil and triumphs. Pedro was first a mason before he became a coffee farmer. With his earnings as a builder, he saved up to purchase a set of oxen, which he used to haul construction materials on a contract basis. He has been working with San Francisco Bay Coffee since 2012.
Gustavo’s Buena Vista Farm, Colombia
San Francisco Bay Coffee has been instrumental in changing Gustavo’s quality of life and ensuring fair compensation for his farm’s output. As is the case with many small-farm coffee growers, relationships are key. And with San Francisco Bay Coffee’s support, Gustavo has been able to maintain the highest quality standards while keeping his production costs on track.

It’s good but something is a bit different
I used this brands Columbian pods for sometime. Switched to a different brand and thought I would get these again for a change. The flavor is not as full.

Great coffee
It’s a tad bit expensive for me, I have to work a couple extra hours for it but it’s worth it. Wonderful tasting coffee.
Amazon Customer –
Great taste
Hubby is very particular with his coffee. He likes it strong and is happy with this brew. I’m not that picky but I also enjoy it. We have the order on a subscribe and save for a monthly delivery- we like it!

Love this recyclable product – Good quality coffee
Love this product and I have been using it for several years. Used to buy it at Costco but now use Amazon. I use both caffeinated and decaf types because I limit myself ot one caffeinated cup in the morning. I like the fact that these cups are recyclable and environmentally sensitive. Sometimes, I break the pod bottoms, take the spent grinds, and mix them with soil.

Difficult to Open and Reseal
Flavor and Price is all that matters to me. These pods hit the spot in these categories. The compostable feature is a nice bonus, but what does that matter here in PA where it all goes in a trash bag with all the other rubbish and into the landfill. Ho hum.I just don’t like the bags the pods come in. The pods are packed in airtight compostable bags of 8 pods each, so when you use your first pod, you are losing the freshness on the other seven. The bag is impossible to open without it EXPLODING. Have you ever tried to open a difficult bag of potatoes chips where you pull so hard that when the seal releases the bag rips down the side? That is what opening a bag of pods is like. So the bag cannot easilly be used to store the remaining seven pods. About one in eight bags I manage to open without destroying it, then I can fold it closed and use a simple binder clip to keep the pods fresh. I suppose I could use scissors to open the bag, but I’m impatient when I want my morning cup o joe. So this implies that The San Francisco Bay Coffee Co wants me to use a disposable PLASTIC zip log bag to keep them fresh. See more plastic in the landfill. These pods would be a winner if the bag was easy to open or better yet if each pod was in an individual wrapper.

MMmmmm
I have been disappointed by most of the coffee I have ordered from Amazon. I really like strong coffee and most of the ones I have tried, claimed to be strong, and maybe they were for others, but not for me. Someone mentioned that they liked this better than Pete’s. Now Pete’s Major Dickason is my favorite. So of course I had to see just how well this brand matched up. I can say, its pretty d@mn close. Its strong, but smooth. I’m picky, maybe unfairly so. But this coffee is good. When opening the box, the pods are in air sealed bags. As they arent your typical plastic cups, I was concerned that they would be stale if not in some sort of sealed packaging. When I opened the first bag, the smell of the coffee made my mouth water! lol. I’ll be buying again.

San Francisco Bay decaf French Roast Pods
I’m sure it’s all very nice that this coffee comes in compostable pods and the manufacturer is concerned about the environment and all that, but to me, the important thing, especially with decaf, is that it should taste as good as regular caffeinated coffee. As I’m not interested in the stimulant effect of regular coffee, the only reason to drink decaf is flavor—if you can find one that has any. I happen to like a robust, flavorful cup of strong coffee that doesn’t taste like burnt mud and it’s difficult to find a decaf like that, but San Francisco Bay’s decaffeinated French Roast fills the bill nicely. It has the concentrated flavor of a dark roast without its usual characteristic bitterness—or that awful decaffey wateryness the decaf drinkers hate. When you open the plastic bag, the aroma of very fresh ground coffee is very pleasant, indeed. True, this brand does cost a few extra bucks , but hey, the good stuff never comes cheap.

Makes me feel better about K Cups
I have a K-cup coffee maker in my office but I rarely used it because I hated all that wasted plastic – two plastic containers for each cup of coffee is a lot!I ran across these compostable ones and figured I’d give it a try.The cups are packaged in compostable bags to help keep them fresher and can be composted in my LOMI countertop composter!I was slightly worried when they arrived because they are smaller than a regular plastic k-cup but they fit fine. It makes a good strong cup of coffee when I use two of them on the 6 ounce cup brew. These are now my K Cup preference.

Good flavor, better conscience
There aren’t a ton of options out there for compostable K-Cups. Enter San Francisco Coffee Company. This medium roast variety pack works for people who appreciate a more nuanced flavor while not giving up the convenience of Keurig machines, all while not destroying the environment (normal K-Cups are mostly plastic and NOT recyclable). On a day to day basis, I use a pour over with locally purchased beans, but we order these pods when we visit relatives who only use their Keurig machines, and everyone is very happy with them.

EXCELLENT coffee BUT!!!
This is truly is an EXCELLENT brewed coffee including the heavenly smell for freshness and value! BUT, if you are having trouble with exploding coffee K pods (as I had in the past with other off brand coffee k cups) there is a very easy solution. Hold down the lid of the coffee brewer for about 3-5 seconds to allow the air to escape the k pods and it should work great!! That is simpler than cleaning the exploded coffee pod trying to make a good cup of coffee. I hope this will work for some of you as it did for me. It’s worth the few seconds of waiting to get a great tasting, great smelling cup of coffee every time.

Nice strong coffee with great taste
This is best coffee I have found for my taste. It has a wonderful strong flavor with no bitterness. Peets was my favorite until I found this! And unless it changes in future, the price is very reasonable. If you want a nice deep strong brewed coffee, you cannot go wrong with this one. I will be ordering more as needed.
Jeanine Arnold –
Great coffee at a good price
I ordered this coffee because it has a lower price than other k-pod dark roasts. Perhaps they have lowered their price since people complained? Anyway, I think it’s great for the money. It has a good flavor, is dark like I like and I love the strong coffee smell of each bag.
William Fleetwood –
Good enough
These French roast pods don’t make coffee as strong as I’d like but I do like the convenience of using a Keurig and they work well enough. A big plus is the used pods are compostable so not as harmful to our planet as the plastic pods sold by others.
Leona Collins –
Coffee without the plastic
San Francisco Bay is made without the plastic found in other brands. Forcing hot water thru plastic and then drinking it may not be the most healthy thing to do. This brand is not made with the coffee enclosed in a plastic cup but a woven material which is recyclable. Decent coffee too.

My go to coffee.
Have actually been a customer of San Francisco Bay Coffee for years. My wife drinks French Roast and I drink this. I tend to not finish my coffee when it is hot, so I am thrilled that when mixed with vanilla coffee creamer this develops a pronounced mocha flavor when cold.I can’t wait to try their flavored coffees.

Great coffee that works in new or old keurigs
As your Keurig gets older, you may notice that its pressure drops off and has difficulty pushing coffee out of a plastic cup in any short amount of time. These “tea style” mesh bag coffees not only taste great, but allow water to flow through easily and you get a full flavored coffee in standard times. Composting of the pods is a plus!

Four Yummy Flavors, One Great Price
I love coffee! I don’t overdo it, and usually have 2 cups in the morning all year-round and maybe another cup in the evening during colder months. I’m just a regular coffee drinker who loves a good, well-balanced cup of coffee. This variety pack satisfies that need for a good cup! I wish I could describe the flavors with terms a connoisseur might use, but all I can say is that I found each flavor satisfying, delicious and balanced. I will purchase again. The pods themselves worked great – – I had no grounds in my cup, no drips or mishaps while brewing, etc.The pods were packed by flavor in several sealed bags, making for easy storage and keeping them fresh. As for the actual coffee content, I found it to be generous and plentiful. The pods are full and the company is definitely not stingy.I like that these are easy to recycle and compost, and there is much more to compost and much less to recycle.I’ve been using my own refillable pods for the last two years, and I bought these more out of want for convenience and change ; instead, I found coffee that I like so much, I haven’t used my own refillable pods since I bought these, and I probably won’t for a while. (I plan to purchase this variety pack again, so I may have to give away a bag or two of what I have on-hand ; I don’t want to waste it.)The Fog Chaser had me worried – – would it be too strong or jack me up? Not at all! It’s perhaps stronger than the others, but deliciously so. My mother says this is her favorite, and she rarely likes a strong coffee. This is my favorite, too, at least for now. (I’m torn between this and the Rain Forest, but I truly enjoy them all.)The breakfast blend was bright, balanced, and lighter than the rest—but not too light. I can easily see this being a favorite of many, especially for those who prefer a milder cup. I did find this a little bolder than the average breakfast blend, but that’s not to say it’s super strong – – it’s not.Organic Rain Forest reminded me of a Costa Rica coffee I had years ago and loved. I compared it to the Rain Forest coffee we had on hand and to a Hawaiian Blend, and ours were both bland and tasteless in comparison. I won’t go as far to say it’s the best Rain Forest coffee I have had, but it’s quite tasty and stands firmly on its own as delicious.I haven’t tried the French Roast, but my brother did when he visited, and he said it was yummy. It sure smelled good! His girlfriend had the same type, and she enjoyed it so much that she had me send her a link so she could purchase her own packs.I’m so happy I took a chance on this purchase. I was a little hesitant to buy a large quantity of pods, but I had tried the brand before and recalled that I liked it (I think some pods came with my first Keurig, and I also purchased some of their other pods a year or so back before I stopped buying pods altogether ) , plus, the good reviews made me feel confident.Overall, I’d give this variety pack a solid “A” bordering on “A+”. I’ll definitely buy again, both this particular variety pack as well as some of their others.( I also plan to gift some.)One final thought : I can’t stress enough how much I love these pods. The coffee is great, yes, but I also love that there is so little waste. With the original Keurig pods, I felt guilty anytime I used them and saw all that plastic. I couldn’t keep doing that – – the waste and garbage was astounding. I can’t go look right now, but I’m pretty sure the top part of the pods is a thick paper/cardboard /foil and paper… something like that , and overall there is barely any plastic… if any at all, especially compared to other pods. Maybe just the little ring part that connects the pod to the top of the pod…? I’m not sure. I know that I feel much better about using these, and even though there is some waste when compared to the refillable pods, I can feel good about using these and about supporting a company who at least cares about reducing waste and tries. That’s important to my family, and it makes the coffee taste that much better. ;)TL; DR:This is good stuff…. Delicious coffee generously packed in recyclable pods. Buy it! It’s yummy!

WOW It’s so smooth, dark! Best coffee I ever had!! Read my Solimo vs San Francisco Bay review
I am in love with this coffee! This is my first time trying it, and I’m not disappointed in any way. I tried Amazon Solimo Dark roast and the French roast. The French roast was good and I love a really Dark rich coffee, but it was just a little too strong and not as smooth. The Solimo Dark roast was good, but not dark enough for me Both better than store brand coffee starbucks ect I’ve tried them all! Now for San Francisco Bay coffee 😋 it is Dark yet not bitter at all! I travel a lot and have had some good coffee and I think this is actually one of the best I’ve ever had. I was a little unsure of the new design, but It comes in several packages I open one that has a few pods in it and put the rest in a zip lock bag. If you’re hesitating don’t!!! You won’t be disappointed!!!

Good coffee in a lighter K-cup style
Good dark roast flavor. Not a traditional K-cup, these have mesh filters on them, so they’re bagged in groups to prevent them from going stale (probably not the right word to describe coffee). Each box contains multiple bags, which in turn contain multiple K-cups.

I started ordering this brand for my coffee maker at home after trying it at work. Great flavor and I like that it comes sealed in packets so it stay fresh. Not the cheapest but I love my coffee too much to change back.

Don’t feel terrible when I throw the pods away
I love that I don’t feel like an absolute dirt bag when I throw the used pods away. I will continue to buy these but will warn future consumers that every single breakfast blend exploded in my Keurig last time I got a box. Hoping it’s fluke thing but if not, I will be contacting the company. Otherwise, I love the product

Tasty!
Smooth bold coffee with a bit of a kick. Very enjoyable. Highly recommend! One more thing that I am thrilled with is that the Kcups are 100% biodegratable. I can put the entire cup in my compose and not have to be bothered with emptying the Kcups to recycle. That’s a real bonus!!! i will probably buy again!

Excellent Customer Service and Fantastic Coffee
I have successfully used other actually compostable K-pods like these (Chock full o nuts for example) in my Keurig K-Supreme and have never had this problem. With San Francisco pods, most of the liquid filtering down from the Keurig was water because it bypassed the pod. The liquid in the cup was the color of very, very weak tea. Unfortunately, I just wasted $38 because these are non-fundable!UPDATE: I emailed San francisco coffee and they are sending me an adapter for my Keurig-Supreme. I’ll have to let you know how that works.Update 2: The adapter for my Keurig K-Supreme arrived in only a few days. It is a small ring of plastic but it did the job! I am more than satisfied. I was able to finally taste the coffee. So far I have tried Breakfast Blend and French Roast. I can’t decide which I like more. Thank you San Francisco Coffee. My only concern is that the adapter is likely to be accidentally thrown out due to its small size. I just sent an email to customer service to see if they will send another.Update 3: I love SF coffee so much that I do the following to ensure a perfect cup in my Keurig K-Supreme. I not only use the adapter but I now poke five holes in the top of the pod to allow the water to filter through without damaging the pod. I looked at the pattern left on the top of some K-pods that I knew worked. However, since I am getting tired of having to do this, I am now in the market for another single serve coffee maker that will acommodate SanFrancisco coffee pods.

The Flavor is outstanding much better than many other coffees.I got the extra dark Italian. It is packaged well with I think 10 pods in each smaller bag so they stay fresh!I’m in love with this product.

Tasty coffee.
We love the taste and also that the pods and bags are compostable. It’s as tasty as any Tim Hortons or Dunkin coffee pods in my opinion and not any more expensive.

Fresh and packed well
I buy this coffee for work. I like that the pods and packaging are eco friendly. The flavor is good. The only downside is that it does leave coffee ground residue at the bottom of the cup. I need to rinse it out before I get another. Otherwise a good coffee

Really good coffee if you don’t like your coffee too strong. However, i do think it’s quite pricey but understand the whole enviro friendly aspect of these k cups being biodegradable.

A decent esp
A decent espresso, I drink this one black. It does not allow for a large mug as it gets slightly bitter when you try to make a 12 oz mug but this is one of the better espressos I have tried this year.

Nice selection of dark roasts
I had never had this particular brand before. I was happy that I was able to try all the different dark roasts, we were then able to pick out our favorites, although they were all very good.

The best French Roast! “10 ⭐️”
Very robust flavor as expected when one purchases “ French roast”. Better than Starbucks by far.. love the “ kcup design” with an open brewing mesh instead of a plastic kcup design .The Only NEGATIVE is the company name..San Francisco Bay… change the name! 😂

Excellent tasting…but BOY did the price of these skyrocket
Bought these many moons ago when they were available in East Coast Costco Stores….100 for 19.95…now the price has gone way up on them and no longer sold in stores by me.They are based I believe on the west coast and is a very small company. The taste is so rich and smooth…bought them here on amazon for family presents this year. You will not be disappointed with its taste, my favorite and I am a VERY big coffee drinker

Easy to use and great price
These pods are very fresh and I really like that they have about 10 in a sealed bag and so you leave the rest all sealed up and open when needed later. The flavor in the French Roast is strong which I like and the pod works perfectly. I feel so much better not having plastic pods by the millions being used. Great product.

Special “pods” make great coffee for Keurigs
Pods are recyclable, first of all. Instead of plastic, they use a mesh coffee filter, which results in a robust cup as well as being environmentally friendly. Even the vented bag the pods are in is recyclable! And, by the way, for a Keurig-compatible, it makes a very good cup! I also like all the flavors in this selection. I tend to dislike flavored blends, so always buy this item

San Francisco Bay Bold Variety Pack Coffee Pods
Every flavor is my new favorite! Delicious, bold, and I like that the pods are compostable! Everyone at work tries to swipe these, but I don’t share my San Francisco Bay coffee pods!

Surprisingly good
I’m a fan of Keurig brewers but often the coffee pods you buy are weak and have to be brewed for 8 oz or less water. My Keurig has settings for 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 oz. This stands up well for a bold taste on the 10 oz. setting. The only downside to these is that you must keep them in an airtight container so the coffee doesn’t lose it’s strength. It’s a great and bold tasting Decaf. It’s a close second to Peet’s.

Great Tasting Coffee
I’m very impressed with the pod design and surprisingly enough the pods produced a rich cup of coffee. I took the company’s word and tossed the used pods right into my green bin. I would have liked to see more education on this sustainable green pod design. I want to lesson my guilt on used K-Cup pods ad this may be the answer. I’ll definitely try the regular caffeinated pods from this company.

Excellent Coffee
I’ve been a loyal SF Bay coffee pod buyer for years now. I like all the variety pack flavors and enjoy being able to buy more than one flavor at a time. So good. I really like that they don’t have that plasticy taste that other cups have. I sought them out specifically for less plastic and have been consistently happy with my coffee.
